I'm 50, and injuries are a reality with me, so i have to make certain adjustments so as to avoid injury. For example, deads and squats are a no-go for me. plus i have to be real careful with lifting heavy. muscles can certainly handle heavy, connecting tissue may not agree. Additionally, the philosophy of "always lifting to failure" can be very problematic for me, so i only try to fail one time per routine... maybe twice.
so just learn to tone it down a bit, and learn to make certain adjustments that your frame and physique can handle. At 19, you don't have the years of experience to realize this yet, but weightlifting is a marathon, not a sprint.
don't give up on the weigts yet!
