2 knee injury in 2 years

So I think I might be done with lifting permanently at almost 19 years old, last week i think injured left knee doing deadlifts which was the last limb I had left that wasn't injured. Its not an intense pain its dull and mild while walking but hurts and tightens up when I try to fully extend it I haven't told anyone lately that I've injured it nor do I think that I want to believe that its injured . I've had a slightly torn left pec tendon before which was fixed with rehab ,tendonitus through out my entire upper body, a torn meniscus and have lightly crooked knees. Most of said injuries have healed about 90% but theres still pain in those areas and now I have this another injury wtf I cant take it anymore I dont know whether to stop lifting permanently or go to another useless doctors whos gonna give me several mri's tell me theres nothing he can really do and then try to prescibe me FVCKING painkillers and shlt and then send me on my way. I already can't do to many excerises anymore anyways 70% of my workout has been on machines to help avoid pain or getting injured but I'd hate to say its time to hang it all up at 18 I just don't know anymore.

Any advice on what I should do would be helpful also sorry about the bad grammer and the wall of text im just not mentally all there lately.

Listen man you need to go hire a solid personal trainer! I dont mean a run of the mill shitty trainer who knows what you know or less....I mean some one who can fix your imbalances, and take a look at your form and correct it down to the bare bone!

Im a trainer and I had a hockey player who had knee surgery come to me 5 months ago saying "my knee is ruined I was told I can never do squats again" for 3 months I worked on fixing his imbalances, fully activated his glutes, stretching out his tight hips, and strengthening the ligaments and tendons in knees, and then I worked on his form (positioning of his elbows and hands, adjusting his hips, direction of knees in realtion to his feet ect ect...) and now he is able to do squats ass to grass 100% pain free! He told me "wow I thought I knew alot about training before I came to you"

Trust me! pay a good trainer to work with you for a few months and it will make a world of diffrence! we all want to let our ego get the best of us but you can always learn!

Those do not exist were I live as far as I know (not unless you live in ny) if there was I'd hire them believe me I have no ego I just want to be anything to be normal . I dont 't particularly do squats anymore for the fear of my knees further for the past few months I've been back I've done everything on machines because they dont bother them but if you know anyone like yourself nearby were im located for the love of god man plz do send them my way. I mean I have no clue about leg imbalances and I dont believe the shitty doctors in this area do all they've done is prescribed me anti inflammatories give me mri's and try to give me painkiller (which i told them to take them and shove them up there asses). I mean im always up for learning new things about the body especially if it helps me be normal again.

I live in podunk Washington and I found a trainer that helped me get past what a doctor diagnosed as arthritis. Said I was going to have it the rest of my life. I found a trainer and told him about my "arthritis" and we worked to improve my form and get fit and wouldn't you know it my "arthritis" went away.

Bottom line is if you really want to get better you'll find a way. If you don't, you wont.

legitimately nothing would make me happier then to feel normal again but so far i have had no luck really I've been bounced around from doctor to doctor from physical therapist to physical therapistand the trainers at least the ones I know around here are bums I don't know maybe I'll get lucky and find one but this recent new injury is killing me mentally and I can't even afford training my family is broke right now and were tied up with bills currently and this shlt sucks.

so it's either all or nothing with you mate?

I'm 50, and injuries are a reality with me, so i have to make certain adjustments so as to avoid injury. For example, deads and squats are a no-go for me. plus i have to be real careful with lifting heavy. muscles can certainly handle heavy, connecting tissue may not agree. Additionally, the philosophy of "always lifting to failure" can be very problematic for me, so i only try to fail one time per routine... maybe twice.

so just learn to tone it down a bit, and learn to make certain adjustments that your frame and physique can handle. At 19, you don't have the years of experience to realize this yet, but weightlifting is a marathon, not a sprint.

don't give up on the weigts yet!

There are no trainers in NY? I really find that hard to believe. Have you asked the people at the reception desk in the gym you go to? I bet you they know quite a few trainers. \

No but there are none at the gym I go to im asking around . I asked a few of the big guys there he said a friend of his might so im looking but as far as the ones I've seen and talked to know half of them can't train themselves let alone clients . I dont live in the city man I live in a small backwater town 90 miles away from it theres not to much out here. I might know a few people that can possibly help me and I'm gonna make phone calls all week till I do .

I've deffinately toned it down alot lately I guess I'm gonna have to tone it down some more its just depressing that after the past six months I've actually been seeing some real progress you know , gaining confidence getting compliments from people I dont't know I guess for now I'll just tone it down a few more notches lighten the wieght take deadlifts out of the equation.

    thanks for the advice man

If you feel you cant squat then there are always leg press. There is a lot you can do to work around it as most everyone has said. If your knee is really blown get a knee repla***ent then you wont have to worry about it again and you can still train. You are young and you will heal quickly if you do it right. Knees are the worst IMO when they go bad but the knee repla***ents I have seen are 100% after just a few months.

So the recent injury is just a bad knee strain probably from the heavy drop sets I've been doing either deadlifting or leg press its seem to be feeling better after resting it for to days and thanks to the great advice awms gave me I am going to take the time out to find a good trainer who can help me fix the imbalances in my legs. I also am going back to my physical therapist and going to the orthopedist to have them look at my right knee because I remember my physical therapist telling me it was slightly knock so I want to get that corrected asap , I also used to be a toe walker so I have really tight ankles and hips and I want to get those fixed . I am by no means semetrical alot of different muscles on each side are different sizes/shaped that the others so I'm going to spend the time to get those evened out hopefully whatever trainer I find can help me out with that.

Until all of the above is corrected I'm going to stick with light weights and take the time to learn perfect form and do some more cardio and spend some more time learning better diet not that I don't eat 100% clean not even one cheat meal in 2 years I just think it could always use improvement . So If anyone has any experiance with knock knees, tight ankles and hips or really on anything I've just said please any information would be very much apreciated.

    And Thanks all

It'd be worth road tripping it to the big apple to see a trainer once a week for a while so you can work on form.

Good to hear it's only a strain. Knees are funny animals; Several years ago when I was being inactive for a long time I went for a hike up a local trail, mountain side. Less than 1/4 way down my knees started KILLING me. It was bad enough that I had to walk down backwards a good portion of the way or I could not have made it. My knees continued to hurt the next 6 months and I thought I had screwed something up somehow. One day I had to jump off or I fell off something only about 2 feet off the ground and I was dreading landing thinking Fvck it was going to hurt and I might blow them out.... POP!, both knees sort of popped, snapped and felt like new again. Very strange.

I don't know what you can afford, but that sounds like something reasonable.

yeah its reasonable it would cost over $50 in gas to get out there and the trains much faster plus you don't have to pay for parking

Find a trainer with degrees from a real university, not certificates. If you were in FL I could hook you up with some real serious guys that are the complete opposite from those salesmen that hang out in gyms. Good luck man, and get the sand out of your vagina.

Those were his exact words the conversation went south from there I started the conversation nicely and told them I'd like to find a trainer or a doctor that could help me and they shot me down like my problems non existant, Now im 18 im making 150-300 a month of 3 small vending machines I bought I can afford doctors or even a what should I do now.

Do your parents have insurance? If you are living at home you should still be covered under their insurance plan even though you are 18. I think it's 23+ now.

Yeah we have insurance and its till 21 here but I don't think insurance covers trainers I took awms advice and theres a facility that trains athletes and helps with there injuries and I've been told by several members of my gym , former football team and even my 6th grade gym teacher to go there they said if that guy doesn't know what to do there he knows which direction to send me . I asked people that go there what the prices were they said between 20-50 per session depending what kind of plan you have which doesn't sound to bad Looks like im gonna cut back on somethings save what little money I make and I'll have to stop in there , It used to be located in my gym but they moved and rented a builing 2 miles down the road so it doesn't sound like it would be to big of a hassle.
