Got my bloodwork back today

So from my previous thread my tsh level was at 5.28. My doc had me go get tested again and my tsh comes back at 4.12. He said my level is perfectly fine and in range. Attached are my complete results. Please advise because I feel majority of hypo symptoms, weight gain, low energy, body aches etc.

your TSH is not fine, way too high, your thyroid is working double time, your cholesterol is in very bad shape, and finally your vitamin D is very low. your test levels are good and the only thing you need to take care of are the three mentioned above. my TSH was alway 3.5 or higher on a scale of 0.5-4.5, started taking Iodine about 5 drops a day rub it on my skin and my TSH values went way down and stated to feel much better.

So you don't think I need to go get a second opinion on the tsh? Just take iodine to lower it naturally? Doc said just take OTC vitamin d. High cholesterol runs in the family, believe it or not my LDL was about 40 higher then it is now, been on a vegan diet 1 1/2 months before I took this test so I'm gonna try a strict 6 months vegan and re test to see how much I can lower naturally. Doc wanted me on cholesterol meds.

oh no, you need to get a second opinion, MRI is definitely needed to see whats going on with your thyroid! iodine is a just a short term fix for now.

Damn an MRI? My health insurance is so shitty I'd have to come out of pocket probably to get an MRI...any recommendations of what kind of doc I should make an appt with? I have a ppo so I can see whoever without a referral..

why out of pocket if you have PPO? you need a good Endocrinologist.

I believe I have like 20% co pay but doesn't kick in till i reach my 1000 deductible..

You need to find an Endo who really understands Hypothyroidism.

Your TSH is way to high and T4 is in the tank at 1.1.

T4 should be in the upper part of the reference range.

You feel and look like you do because you exhibit and present as having Hypothyroidism.

I would have liked to seen T3, RT3 and Thyroid antibodies as they can tell us more.

Remember, many of the same neg sides of low Test are the same for Hypothyroidism.

Don't take any supplements till you are diagnosed you don't want to mask other test results.

time for a new doc, seriously. tsh of 4.12 is not fine and while the ranges on it do vary, 4.12 is by no means in any optimal range on any scale.

I repeat this all the time but the more modern range for TSH is 0.3 - 3.0.

Imagine all the people suffering needlessly from all types of aliments by Physicians who are not trained correctly to practice medicine they don't fully understand.

I'm trying to decide which endocrinologist to go with, online there's tons but how do I know if they specialize in thyroids?

The different types I'm seeing are:
Endocrinology & Metabolism
Reproductive Endocrinology
Internal medicine endocrinology
Nuclear medicine endocrinology

Would I just have to call and ask if they specialize in thyroids? Also there's like 60 of these docs within 15 miles from my house.. Any tips on making a choice here?

Call the office and interview the staff. Don't waste your time and theirs if they don't fit your needs.

Thanks everyone who helped with this situation. Just saw the endo and got prescribed 50mg of synthroid.. Getting blood work in 6 weeks to retest everything including an antibodies test. Thanks again!!!

Just thought I'd add in my newest bw. Started a new thread about it because I was diagnosed with hasimotos today. Upped my dose to 88 mcg from 50.
