    Boil

I have a boil on the back of my thigh. It hurt so bad I went to my doc she said its an infected hair follicle and that it will come to a head in about a week. It's the size of a half dollar and raised . It hurts like hell. She told me to resist the urge to pop or drain it.
Any one ever have one of these little buggers ?

Ingrown hair cysts are nasty. The worst is a pilonidal cyst that develops on the coccyx. I was literally unable to walk or sit. That was more painful than a broken arm. I had to get it fixed under general anesthesia. The problem is that it will keep developing till you get that hair out, so you'd have to either do an incision or an excision.

I always pop them even though I know I shouldn't. I like pushing the puss out.

Ya. Doc says if I can see the core that will have the hair in it. She recommends heat on and off for a few days to spread it along. Also says to use an ace bandage at night to hold a piece of fatty bacon to it. Lol I'm gonna try it.

I already made it worse by putting a needle down into it. It did give a nasty discharge. Chunky puss and blood. Hurt so good. Till the next day and the whole back of my leg was warm red and tight. That's when I went to the doc. She called me a fuk tard. We're close. Lol

That's really weird. I did that exact same order on my last date: Squeezed and poked then had to follow up with antibiotics. All is well.

After a night of not poking and prodding. It's still red called the doc at 8am she called me back and calling an order of fluctox acillin into the pharmacy when they open. Not sure if I'm spelling it correctly.

It's a "L" instead of a "t". And its probably one word not two. And its a hundred times better than doing nothing. You should be fine.

There's an ointment called "Ichthammol" you can purchase at CVS or on-line. It's good for boils and other skin infections. It's a black viscous ointment, works good...

I get small ones sometimes from ingrow hair. I just use an 18g or 22g needle to lance/cut it open and also to dig out the hair. New needles are as sharp as a surgical scalpel since they are in fact a medical instrument and virtually painless.
