If you want him to continue, work him in slow and offer encouragement.

Then hit it with more intensity or train it more often. If you can lift for 2 hours its arguable that you aren't training hard enough.

I took one of my friends to the gym who has never ever been before.

Uggggh, shit like that makes me not want to be a trainer. It was like the first day at work in a whole new atmosphere to the guy.

He was like, how do you know what weights to lift. . . It's crazy to me to see people who aren't up on the gym going experience.

Are you taking him so you can both train together? You dont want to scare him off

Do you want to help him get started? Do you want him doing what is most beneficial for him personally? I never start people off crazy, sometimes it's a good strategy from a trainers perspective so they know they are going to get worked hard. But practically speaking it is best to get the most reward from doing the least, so you have somewhere to adjust with your training.

Or if you just want him to be your training partner you could have him jump in and do what you are doing, but maybe rethink the two hour bit. drop some volume or reduce rest

Sounds like the first time I got my wife off the cardio and had her lift some weights

Anything he does at this point is going to hurt tomorrow...

This^^ Have him take it easy and teach him good form. His own ego will prob push him beyond what he should do without your encouragement. He will be sore as hell with minimal work regardless...

Why not just start off simple and have him work his way in to something more advanced? Most people aren't going to stick to working out if the first time they go there, they over-do it and spend the next week in agony.

It's more important for a beginner to learn good form and habits than it is to push him to failure.

Do cardio warm up 8-10mins and 30-45min full body workout with light weight and try to teach him good technique.
