You guys are carrying some heavy iron. I should have asked what are your wives or gf's carrying lol. The class I'm doing is geared towards women mainly and some of the things you guys listed are a bit large for the ladies (figures lol).

The market for women wanting to carry and learn to shoot is huge! Its like what I see at the gym with women. They wont take any advice from their SO but will pay a stranger $100 an hour to yell at them lol.

Austin...have you tried the XDS? Its fantastic is the 9mm and .45 although it does have a bit of a crack to it in the .45. I just picked up the XDS for the wife who is becoming an amazing shooter.

Wife carries an LCP that I tuned. Most out of the box jam all the time. FMJ RN bullets really help these small pistols with steep ramp feed issues. Hollow points usually exacerbate the problem, but everyone thinks they need HP for self defense. Function first in semis; especially when women and self-defense are concerned.

I personally think a revolver is best for a women. Don't have to worry about teaching them to clear a jam under stress; just pull the trigger and it WILL fire.

Nope. Never fired an XDS. I'll pick one up at the range next time.

The wife carries the SP101 w/ bobbed hammer in .357 sometimes. Load it w/ .38+P for her. It's got a decent amount of weight so the recoil is minimized. The barrel length is 2.25". Believe the Ruger catalog is 5720. She also has a S&W model 12-2 Airweight that is lighter( name kinda told you that...).
She has no problem carrying either in a small cross body purse. I've tried to convince her to let me bob the hammer on the Airweight, but she won't hear of it. It's hers, so more power to her.

There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...
