Well, for one Howard Sterns contract is running out and no announcements to renew. The elections didnt help. I dont think it's a price issue. When Sirius and XM merged, they promised everyone that all units out there would be compatible. Unfortunately this never happened as they were never able to combine their IT departments, while you have the same channel lineup (with the exception of "the Best Of") you are sill being forced to signup for either Sirius or XM.
More and more people are moving towards free. Such as Pandora and Iheart radio. Remember when all the consumer electronics started to become compatible with iPods? Now you go and look at home theater systems and car stereo and everything is screaming PANDORA. And you don't even need a connection today, most are moving to Bluetooth streaming with full control and data transfer. Not only do you get to listen to what you want, but you can skip a song!
The only failure so far in the streaming music industry is HD Radio. Worthless and full of imperfections.
Anyway, I think the retainable Satellite Radio customer is going to be the sports fans and new/talk radio listeners. Music lovers will eventually move on.
I'm still in great shape, Siri is @ 2.79 today, I'm in it at 0.33 cents. My plan was to sell at $3 or sell if it dips below $2.75. Very close to make a call...
