Christ....i'm on my 8th year of post-high school education (and not an 6th year senior product or anything like that) and plan on *at least* three more if not six more. Scary stuff.

what are you options after you get your degree?Originally Posted by heckler45_2000
Like what kind of jobs can you get and hows the pay?
Student, business.
My uncle is into real estate. He basically buys houses, fixes them up, then rents them out for a while, then sells them. I was thinking about getting in with him for a while, and possibly going back for a law degree. You can do a lot with a business degree, I'm not exactly sure what I'm gonna do.Originally Posted by niXon)(

just graduated in telecommunications, i'm still trying to decide which aspect to go looking for in terms of jobs. Anyone in the telecomm field with any suggestions. ??
Graduated March 15th (Computer Networking) and i am now free......
I was a student at one point......
Applied physics, Purdue, emph in chemical and high energy astrophysics.
masters of occupational therapy program
Masters-Physical Ther
Acquiring Medical Molecular biological degree.
the thing is, a lot of people use grad school and further education to delay them having to go work...you're just building up debt. i did 2 years for my masters and am finishing up my phd in 4....but the entire time I GOT PAID!!!!! no tuition or bills, no outside job, just a paycheck every month to got to lab a couple of hours every day. as a result, i paid off all my undergrad student loan debt and still have close to $20,000 saved.
now i'll go post doc and get paid.....all the while enjoying the freedom of setting my own hours etc. in two years i'll have to get a real job...as a clinical lab director.
i just don't understand how all these people can keep justifying going to graduate school and racking up debt to prolong things. you should really decide if the end justify's the means. will you honestly get a better job with an MBA, or could you get that same job after 2-3 years working experience after undergrad and did you just waste $20,000 on graduate school when you could have saved twice that much in teh meantime?
it really drives me crazy when i see an MBA or even a lawyer selling real estate etc b/c they discovered their degree didn't do **** for them.
not all people can get a job, or can get a check every month to "got to lab a couple hours every day", whatever that means..sometimes people like school, sometimes people are delaying going to work, and sometimes people just wish to gain as much knowledge as possible by attending grad school. Most 4 yr degrees + 2-3 yrs work experience will not set you at the level of someone that has a masters..... a 4 yr degree is quickly becoming the minimum requirement of most good jobsOriginally Posted by GQSuperman

is exactly what it says. i go into my lab everyday for a few hours and i get paid. i guess some institutions call it a research assistantship, but my university is set up differently. they recruit us, and pay us. we work on our research projects to finish up our thesis. we get paid to do so. so, you set your own hours and if you're a hard worker, a few hours a day in the lab is all thats needed.
WoW thats SUPER :spudnikdaOriginally Posted by GQSuperman
that is awesome, if i were you I would do the same thing. Getting paid while going to school instead of paying, you can't beat that.
