Gear and Guns would never mix with me... I cant even drive in traffic without wanting to pop one in every head that got in my way... I envy the self-control people ...

hey tren...I'd stay away from hi-point..not very well make weapons. Stay with beretta, tauraus, colt, smith, glock, hk, but, the norinco .45 is exactly like the colt. the chinese make them...its as good out of the box as a colt. many guys buy the norinco then jazz em up with sights, a trigger job, larger beavertail, etc...stuff they will do with a 600.00 Kimber.... have fun shopping and good luck.

cool thanks for the feedback bro. i figured the hi point guns were cheaply made. im glad to hear the norinco 1911s are as good as the colt made 1911s. looks like the norinco 1911 is back for consideration. it all depends on whats on sale when im ready to buy

actually im just kidding. btw, i think its funny when people ask me questions like this. why do you spend hundreds of dollars on something? its cause you want it. i love guns, i truly enjoy looking at the guns that i have. besides, its a nice feeling to know that when i hear something strange in my house, i can load up my shotgun and go see what it is. if its a burglar, you better believe they will regret breaking into my house

alot of the guns suggested here are kinda inefficient. Tek 9's are horrible guns. That is why they are so cheap. 1911's used to be the best but now they are just entirely to heavy and bulky when compared to other weapons...it does make it a bit more durable, but if you compare it to guns like glocks that weight half of it and shoot more rounds...

First off you have to look at a couple of factors

    1) What do you want the gun for?

What i mean by that, are you going to take the thing to the range mostly? Or are you going to have a CHL? Or do you want it for home protection? Do you have kids, family, or roomates around that you need to worry about ?

If you are just going to take it to the range to plank away...Taurus's are great. They are pretty cheap and pretty durable. I personally like shooting 40's the best at the range... 9's are boring and 45's are louder but the paper really doesn't show much of a difference and it's a bit more expensive for the ammo even if you reload. If you are going for personal protection of yourself (CHL) then i'd recommend you save up a little and buy something a little more costly. Glock makes a good sub compact and compact .40 . So does SIG. For concealment i don't recommend anything above .40, just not very practicle and despite what most people think about power, getting off 9 accurate bullets off with a .40 is better than getting 5 accurate ones with a .45. If it's a home protection thing and you live alone...a nice shotgun works great for apt's and houses. No i'm not talking slugs.

im thinkin id use this next gun for target shooting. i already have a 12 gauge shotgun and a compact glock .45, so im good for self/home defense. im really leaning towards the beretta 92F. that gun is sexy, plus its pretty likely that il be able to get one off gunbroker for about $400

if you are doing it for target shooting...barretta is a GREAT gun. Especially after you buy the barrel extensions and stuff... Taurus makes a model almost exactly like it without as many accessories for way cheaper though

ive heard of kel tec, but they are pretty cheap. i want something that will not jam or blow up on me. i need a quality gun that will last for a long time. id buy another glock, but they are a little more expensive, plus i already have one. i think i need to have a little diversity in my handgun collection. but dont get me wrong, i definately intend to buy myself a glock 17, 19, 21, and a 31 eventually.

well abstrack told me to just start a topic about whatever I wanted to talk about...so as long as we dont just post stuff like "refresh" or "work is boring" then we should be okay...we just have to actually be saying something you know?
