I write into the lease "landlord has the right to inspect the premesis for any reason" - If that's not in the lease then technically s/he shouldn't.

No BS, he said they cannot, meaning it is against the law/rules. Doesnt mean they WONT... Yes I agree get a safe, make sure your door is locked and personally I would but a $50 Panasonic BL-C1a camera and hook it up to your computer/router.

I have 3 in my house. Easy to set up and will automatically send a snapshot when it detects motion to your phone, email or wherever you tell it to. You can also view it live online via secure server when you get an alert.
