You're obviously referring to the USA and how they deny anything that they were wrong about.... and lost.... like Vietnam or the War of 1812...

The War of 1812 cracks me up the most, because most Americans have never heard of it.

you're obviously wrong. what i mean is everyone wouldn't look down their noses at each other if everyone was more aware and respectful of each other's history. (and you proved my point)

What am I obviously wrong about?

I do agree with the rest of your statement though, but you must admit no one denies things like the Americans.... I mean they are one of the only major 1st world countries that does not educated their children on the other cultures surronding the world. They only teach American history and conveniently leave out certain parts.

Don't get me wrong.... I love the States and have many close friends and family that live there. I am not hating on anyone, just voicing my opinion.

If I knew you were that sensitive, I never would have said that.... I did not mean to offend you. Maybe you should go join a baking or knitting forum.

Believe me, we are well aware of Vietnam and the war of 1812. Most of us know about Dolly Madison, and her efforts to save items from the Whitehouse. I'm not sure what you're getting at though; most Americans learn a second language; usually spanish because of our proxemity to Mexico. I guess if we were surrounded by other countries like those in Europe, we might have a different perspective and see our history as more of a whole world history.

But we are a relatively new country; we don't have nearly as much interaction on a historical level as most EU countries have had, and really until WWII, we were not considered a superpower or a "tier I" country. Much of our interaction with world politics and world history, and our impressions on it, are just now being written.

I figured that. When I first moved to Alberta, people use to ask me where I was from, I'd answer "Québec City" and then they'd be like "Oh! Welcome to Canada".
