OK, just to update this thread ...

I have found myself in a position with a need to compromise on this. My wife has made it clear that she won't go riding with me on a full out sports bike, like the Gixx or Busa. However, she is agreeing to settle in the middle with maybe a sports-touring bike. Doing some looking, if I were to go that route, I really like the look and the reviews of the Kawisaki Concours 14. It's probably a little more passenger friendly, and we could probably do quite a bit more with it to get away if we wanted to. Getting away might mean a day trip to the beach, or Palm Springs, who knows.

Yeah, in reality it's for me, but truthfully it wouldn't be nearly as fun if she won't ride with me once in awhile. I'm definitely wanting a sporty bike, but like I said earlier, I don't need the meanest fastest bike on the planet. The Concours has over 1300cc and appears to carry its own nicely. Any thoughts?

It depends on your personality..your pretty chill so you might like a cruiser better than a crotch rocket balls to the wall all the time.

Use a piece of ceramic or a ceramic tool cutter is even better. Much harder than glass, instant shatter

the busa is bigger and heavier. It may have more total horse power but the power curve on it easier then on a gixxer.

My Corvette is sitting at 620hp, but I still want a little more spice. My thoughts are to get one for a year or two, then I'll get a Harley like some of my buddies.

If I'm not totally off my rocker, maybe someone has some good ideas for me to think about. Again, I used to ride quite a bit, but it's been 20 years or so since I really rode on a steady basis. I'm really infatuated with the Hayabusa, but again, maybe I'm biting off more than I can chew. Whatever I get, I don't plan on pushing it anywhere near its threshold, but like my car, it's nice to know you have that HP there, whether you need a little or you need a lot. Any thoughts?

Yeah your crazy but that's besides the point..jk But do you have a friend that will let you ride theirs to see how you really feel after riding on it again after all those by gone years. I know harley guys can be very protective when it comes to letting someone else ride it. I was just thinking that you might want to see how it is now to ride and see if that is really what you want or just a passing fancy. The roads are way way more congested with auto truck and such and you know they could care less about a motorcycle on the road as they try to run you off of it. No common courtesy at all especially with everyone on cell phones and not even seeing you till it's too late. If it is what you want then go for it. Why you my ask? Well you only live once so enjoy it while you can. Who knows what tomorrow may bring, financially or health wise. So enjoy today..

Ha, you need two bikes, one for yourself to go balls to the wall crazy on, and then one that is more chill and comfortable for longer rides. I gave up on the balls to wall crazy bike since too much big game around here, and I want to live. I get my speed fix from my dirt bike, good enough if the terrain is tough enough to make you feel like you are going faster. But one day I want a more comfortable street bike maybe, just afraid I will always want to go fast on it.

Just sold my '06 gsxr 750. I was gonna kill myself. Had a close call couple months ago. Going 265km/h on a highway. Deer popped out of nowhere. I am not sure how I didn't get hit. I was on an angry ride too. Scared the shit outta me. Stayed in town for a while then decided that I have a lot to accomplish in life and dying on a bike is not part of the plan. I'm gonna look into a chopper next year most likely.

Check into it but I'm pretty sure if seen the hyabusa fully dressed with the hard bags and all. Just dress it out before the wife sees it and convince her it's sport touring.

We had one here in Tampa that was themed after Scarface. The exhausts looked like gatling guns and the tips would spin as the exhaust came out. It was always in the spotlight!
