I never attempt to "reserve" anything at the gym. If I walk away, I take my stuff with me. But I never really have this issue because I avoid peak hours at the gym. Lot's of poor manners at gyms.

i'm going to try an experiment. I'm going to take a little "reserved" sign we have for tables at work and place it on a bench at the gym. See how long it sits empty

I think a person needs to know who's in the gym, working what. I have had a few issues in the past w/experienced lifters trying to take my weight off a machine cause i went to fill up my water bottle. I never lost my machine but there was confrontations.

That being said, when i'm on a machine i see what my next area will be and who's there. I would never just move someone's water. I already know you've been there, so wherever you might be i ask if you are there. If so, i won't say anything, i find something else to do or wait.

i agree and do the same. Its a matter of being aware of your surroundings. It only takes a minute to ask

Last night I wanted a bench for scull crushers and they were all in use... One bench had a barbell layed across one end... I asked the guy if he was using the bench... He replied "yeh got one more set"....

So I stand around and wait for him to have his long rest period (WTF is with people having 3 min rest periods LOL) and then it happened.... He approached the bench and the one end, picked the barbell up and started curling.... Man I could have fukin blown right then.... I just stared at him while he did his set and then when he was done acted supprised and said "so was that all then"....

It's a bench not a barbell rack you fukin moron.... Piss off...
Have had some shit like that happen to me in the past nothing is worse. Or a young chap just jumping into a bench once you get up or taking you're weights off the ground between supersets. You should have thrown a 30lb DB at him.

Now that is some funny shit, i bet it would last a while.

Thankfully, were I train now is a quiet enough gym with mainly women using it for spining etc. So the weights are generally left alone and the young people go after school, so it's good no hassle in and out in about 45-55 mins high intensity work outs

I am with st pete, I always check out any serious lifters to see who is doing what and will respect another members place on the equipment. If I just hit the room I will wait a minute then ask loudly if anyone has seen anyone using the bench etc that I am getting ready to load.

    On a simalar subject,

I love the outashape shitheads who wanna sit on a machine between each set. Meantime they are doing say 60 lbs on a lat machine and taking 4-5 minutes between each set. The really fukd up thing is you can't even work in with these asshats because they take so long between sets.

Then we got these female "Trainers" who do the same shyt with their clients, they will do reps with one plate and then talk about the most inane bullshyt for 5 minutes before the next set.

I have to admit I keep getting closer and closer to loosing it each time I see them tie up the equipment in this manner, of course the trouble is this is how the gym makes their bread and butter. There are really no real iron gyms left in my area...its all yuppie scum and aerobic stick people.
