1. I was almost born 2 months premature on a plane leaving Hawaii. Thankfully, my mom held me in (like the turd I am) until I was fully cooked at 9.5 lbs.
2. I grew up on a quarter horse/angus cattle ranch, ate meat 3 times a day, and dressed like a cowboy - I didn't learn to tie my shoelaces until I was 7.
3. My best friend in elementary school died from an enlarged heart and my next best friend was squashed by a piano. No one would be my friend until middle school.
4. I lettered in 4 sports in high school, but specialized in football of the American variety.
5. My school won the state championship in football and I was one of three guys to get a full-ride scholarship to a Div I-AA team. My parents divorced in the middle of our championship season.
6. I quit working on my master's in human physiology and enlisted in the Navy after learning the ecology majors were using government funds to secretly grow "wacky tabacky" on federally protected land.
7. I completely ruptured one disc and herniated another jumping out of helos somewhere in the Middle East. I didn't get surgery until 6 months later, spent the next 9 months going through physical therapy, and then was honorably discharged for a medical condition.
8. The VA paid for my master's and doctorate in applied linguistics. I'm a 40% disabled veteran collecting disability benefits.
9. I have a beautiful wife, a little girl, and a little boy. My daughter was born 2.5 months premature and almost didn't make it. We drove around in an ambulance for almost 90 minutes trying to find a hospital with a NICU and doctors willing to deliver a bi-racial child.
10. I never understood racism until I moved to Japan. Now, I am a racist. I hate Japan and most Japanese people, especially J-cops, although I am a graduate of the Yoshikan Aikido Tokyo Riot Police/Instructor course. We are moving to the US in 2009 - I can't wait to be back in a multi-cultural and ethnically diverse country.

1. I've only had one job that I stayed at for more than a year, and I was 16 and it was part time.

10. I plan on being a succesful musician. I play in a band currently, we're recording an album as we speak. I love the high of playing in front of people. We played at the Vancouver stop on the Vans Warped Tour and have been on the radio here. If it doesn't work out it's not a big deal to me cause I'm confident I will get out there eventually.
