The Packers are in talks with Mark Brunell to backup Aaron Rodgers. GM Ted Thompson loves Aaron Rodgers so he will not bring someone in that could threaten his starting status. Brunell is washed up but could be a good tutor for Rodgers. This leads me to believe they would not take a quarterback until the later rounds.

but... hes been under farve for 3 years... and farve is better than brunell... and i agree w/ you about hte qb in the later rounds, they dont need one right away, and that system you have to be in it for a while before you start to really grasp it...

Rodgers has been under Favre for three years and started to show signs of improvement for the first time in this past preseason. He shined against the Cowboys and the coaching staff can now have confidence that he has grasped the system. The problem is, he got hurt in practice right after the game. He missed the rest of the regular season and missed an opportunity to play against the Lions in the last game of the year. The year before, he got into the Pats game and broke his foot. Aaron has something to prove that he will be durable enough to last a full season as the starter. That is something he hasn't done as a backup.

Favre still hasn't filed his retirement papers yet. When he does, a lot of cap room will be freed up for resigning current talent.

Whoever picks him up will have to deal with animal right activists protesting. Bad publicity for that team.
