shave my chest and always get razor bumps the day after HELP!!!

Anyone know of a topical post shaving treatment for the upper chest area? I shave there and always get razor bumps from where my shirt lays on my skin and rubs especially during working out. I have been using gold bond medicated lotion but that doesn't help very much though it does alleviate.

Why not use an electric shaver.....

U won't get that problem then.... And it looked better to have really short 'stubble' IMO than a smooth shiny chest...

Exactly what I do every few days with a mens grooming trimmer, can be a pain in the arse as it would be nice to have a longer lasting hair free chest, but I've found it to be not worth the hassle clean shaving, and I guess trimming only takes 5 mins,I use a mens groomer all over, except head/face.

IPL is an option I want to look into one day but have not looked into how effective or how long it takes for complete results yet, I have other financial priorities ATM,

Yeh u won't have the problem at all when u just trim it really close....

I just do my chest when I'm doing my head if it needs it lol

My GF got me a decent Phillips trimmer (battery) and its great.... Use it probably EOD for stubble and the charge lasts for a few weeks..... I never ever use a razor now... Can't deal with the 'razor bumps' that your talking bout...

I just use a torch and burn it off.

jk. Recently tried the hair removal (nair) for men. Worked great except it took chunks of my skin off between the pecs. Sensative area there I guess. So now I use a electric shaver, but I use nair for my arms. quick and easy.

Did you just start? I used to get ingrowns when I first started shavin, now I just go over it every 3-4 days in the shower, dont even use shaving creme.
Hair blows, and austin, nair is nasty business.

Cool!! I shave my head too but never have to worry about razor bumps there. I really want to get lazer hair removal but it isn't financially feasible atm either

I use to use nair too and I know exactly what you are talking about with the sensitive areas and is why I stopped using! Electric razor seems to be the consensus!!

i've used a straight razor and its great for your face and head when something is not constantly rubbing against it and chaffing it like a shirt on your chest.

Try cortisone cream for razor bumps. Works great for the wife. I just want to get rid of all the hair on my head. It would be so nice to go naturally bald and not shave it any more...

I also use the Norelco only mine is the bg2020. Evidently Norelco makes many variations on it called either bodygroom or bodygroomer.

The really nice thing is being a waterproof rechargable system you can use in shower with no worries, then rinse off and the clippings go down the drain instead of all over the bathroom floor. The other good deal is that its basically impossible to cut off a nipple which I imagine would be somewhat embarrasing.

I just shave my chest with a razor and will not do that again! Will try it with an electric razor next time and see how that goes. Or maybe Nair but I think it will be too sensitive like austinites.

guys i've actually been using the razor still and following it with hydrocortisone cream like someone recommended here followed by gold bond medicated lotion. Works wonders and no razor bumps!!! Love it

No-no looks like some kind of UV treatment. I'd like to see if it works but I'm wary of any product sold only on TV which makes it sight unseen and a pain in the butt to return... Plus the 'shipping and handling' is often more money than the product itself. That also worries me lol.

I just started using Nair on my upper arms, shoulders and back. Works great and no problems with my skin afterwards. I have really stupidly sensitive skin too.

Try using exfoliating gloves in the shower after shaving and give it a real good scrub, seems to eliminate any ingrowns I used to get.

There is a product called Tend Skin that is very effective at treating razor bumps.
It is just aspirin in a base of water and alcohol. Lots of people just grind up an aspirin (not Tylenol or Aleve) or two in a pill/coffee grinder, drop it in an aftershave lotion or toner, and use that after shaving.

Anytime I shave I get bumps on my stomach and upper/inner chest. I use a hair buzzer for everything then use nair for anywhere I want 100% clean. I usually use it on my stomach and chest and just the buzzer for the rest.

I agree made the mistake of doing wax. Um never again. Also have done nair, make sure not to keep it on too long cuz I've burned myself. Electric razor works well.

I use tweezers to pluck them out. Luckily I only have seven chest hairs so it makes it easy. Lol. I use them for everywhere though as I love the smooth feeling you get when plucking and no stubble. It takes forever though. I would suggest sunbathing nude so you can kill two birds with one stone. : )

Personally don't get too many issues with a wet razor used in the shower, the odd ingrowing hair but nothing major. Waxing is a completely different issue though, just don't do it, did it a couple of times in the past and was blotchy, red and by about 2 days later, was covered in ingrowing hairs.

I get the worse razor burn of all, but finally figured out a shaving routine that gets me minimal bumps,burns, ingrown hairs. I use dollar shave club razors, the 4x. I always shave in the shower after using neutrogena a body wash with micro beads. I always shave with a shaving gel. For arms and chest I do shave against the grain to get a super smooth look. Once I'm out of the shower I pat dry and apply a product called bump patrol I got from cvs, you can order online also. I apply this every day after the shower, and for the first week before bed. This stuff is the real key. It's made all the differdne in the world. And for post shave moisterizing I use organic virgin coconut oil. Any OTC moisturizer aggregates my post shave skin, the coconut oil moisturizers and I don't feel any burn or discomfort when applied, even the day of the shave. Once a day after the shower I go over My stomach/chest and look for ingrown hairs. I use a tweaker to get these out. Over time this will also help a greet deal, eventuslly you won't have any ingrown hairs. For my face I use the same razor but use dollar shave club shaving butter. I apply bump patrol on face also, then use neutrogena post shave lotion, it's the only moisturizer that axtuskly helps my burn. I also use their pre shave face wash in the shower before shaving

Tend skin is great but what really works for me is buying hydrocortisone cream with the 12 moisturizers and applying it after I shave. This stops irritation and any razor bumps tried and tested

I have had the same persistent problems after shaving. I tried many different things on amazon, but what works best for me is to rub in benzoyl peroxide 10% on the shaved area after the shave and dry. Works great everywhere...chest, stomach, butt, gen trim. On days when I don't shave and if I have been sweating lots (butt/gen/waist band area) I just put it on after a shower. Also, I have found that if these areas are tanned from natural sun, this rashing is not as bad (I am white). Hope this helps for you. Don't get the lower strength stuff, go for the 10%!!
