5htp and l-tyrosine sexual side effect? anxiety attack?

Hey guys, its been awhile since I've posted on the forum. For my situation, I could use some input.

So for the past 3 days I've been using 5thp and L-tyrosine. I feel like I need the extra motivation from the dopamine, and the extra calming effect from serotonin. I've ended a 7yr relationship, I'm in the process of moving, and have taken a promotion in another state, and am also in the process of learning another job. Needless to say, my stress levels are a bit high. I think I should also mention that I took adderall when I was in college 9 years ago, for about a year and a half. My motivation, concentration, critical thinking have never been the same.

I've been using 1000mg of l-tyrosine per day, and 100mg of 5htp per day. On day 2, I noticed my gyno flaring up a bit. After a quick google search, I found that 5htp can elevate prolactin. So on the 3rd day I didn't take the 5htp, and I took 1/4mg of arimidex (I had some left over from previous RX). I went about my day and everything was fine until that night.

Last night took 15mg of Zinc, 250mg of magnesium, and 100mg of b6 (for sleep, and b6 also lowers prolactin). I squeezed off a few knuckle children, but for some reason I wasn't as hard as I usually get. I tried again for round 2, and I couldn't get hard. The next thing I know my genitals shriveled, my prostate shriveled, and I felt like I was having a bit of an anxiety attack. It took me awhile, but eventually I calmed down and went to sleep.

I had a similiar experience with taking bad gear two years ago. Months after my pct I tried Sam-e, and the same thing happened.

If anyone has any idea on what they think happened I'm all ears. If any of you have any suggestion I'm all ears. I paid a visit to urgent care today, and they told me to just not take any supplements except my vitamins and levothryoxine (I'm hypothyroid.)

Come to think of it, I think I may have some neurotransmitter/neurological issues going on. I do suffer from depression, lack of motivation/concentration and anxiety.

5htp is found in "Melatonin Plus/Combo" supplements that is suppose to help with sleep - I personally haven't heard of it causing anxiety, more calming than anything. When you say your gyno was flaring up - do you mean to imply you have gyno currently ? If so, do you intend to have it removed ?

If you are concerned about Prolactin and Erectile issues you could always get blood work done.

How does nutrition look ? When a lot of life piles up nutrition is often the first thing out the window and can happen unconsciously/obliviously. All of a sudden you are eating out half your meals or taking shortcuts and the sodium and sugar is on a roller coaster which wont help the situation.

In terms of motivation/concentration/depression you have a few pathways to choose from (with some examples for each)

    (1) Holistic

    - Meditation
    - Yoga
    - Music Therapy
    etc

    (2) Naturopathic

Basically your over the counter supplements or the source foods in lieu of said supplements

    (3) Clinical

    - Psychologist / Psychiatrist
    - Counselor
    - Anonymous Support Groups

    (4) Pharmaceutical

    Pick your poison basically.

Also consider the Placebo / Nocebo effect. Best example of this was recently talked about with Dr. Rhonda Patrick - where a study was done with people who believed they had a gluten interolance. They were given a controlled diet and told the foods had gluten in them (even though they didn't) and the patients had physiological reactions (bloating, gas, gut issues, etc) because the patients believed there was gluten in the food. In other words, your mind controls your body. Hence the popular phrases " You are only as strong as you think you are" and "The mind is the weakest muscle".

5HTP is a precursor to serotonin which is produced mostly in the gut. I would say get a good pro biotic because believe it or not. Your gut bacteria can control your mood.

As far as the prolactin, you would need caber and not adex.

    Best of luck!

Well, you shouldn't supplement l-thyrosine if you are already taking levothyroxine, it's just not good combination for hypothyroid people.
