    HMB protein break down supressor

    ive heard of some studies on this with good results, anyone else use it?
    any good results?

    I like it. It has worked for me, granted the results are not obvious daily, its effects are noticable over a period of time.

    I've read elsewhere it works best w/ creatine. I've read of some good results w/ it, CEE, and NO Xplode.

    If youre prone to going catabolic its an excellent supp, its my favorite non-hormonal. I think its great at any time but especially coming off a cycle.

    I used it once when it first hit the market, but it broke the bank. Where do you buy it now for the best price?

    bunk product IMO.

    Looks good on paper, but hasnt stood up to real world tests. I cant find any studies on it (google, havent checked any medical studies) but hardly anybody uses it.

    Pricey too. But then again, anything from EAS is.

Many studies reported increased body mass and several have reported increased lean body mass following creatine ingestion. This weight gain is most likely water retention in muscle but could also be due to some new muscle protein"

    It seems every study i can find they study creatine and HMB together. I really dont know why, creatine is works, case closed, why use them together?

    i agree HMB sux - i have read studies proving that HMB as no positive effect for a bodybuilder

    i have also tried it myself and it did precisely that - NOTHING

    Effect of leucine metabolite beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate on muscle metabolism during resistance-exercise training.

    The effects of dietary supplementation with the leucine metabolite beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB) were studied in two experiments. In study 1, subjects (n = 41) were randomized among three levels of HMB supplementation (0, 1.5 or 3.0 g HMB/day) and two protein levels (normal, 117 g/day, or high, 175 g/day) and weight lifted for 1.5 h 3 days/wk for 3 wk. In study 2, subjects (n = 28) were fed either 0 or 3.0 g HMB/day and weight lifted for 2-3 h 6 days/wk for 7 wk. In study 1, HMB significantly decreased the exercise-induced rise in muscle proteolysis as measured by urine 3-methylhistidine during the first 2 wk of exercise (linear decrease, P < 0.04). Plasma creatine phosphokinase was also decreased with HMB supplementation (week 3, linear decrease, P < 0.05). Weight lifted was increased by HMB supplementation when compared with the unsupplemented subjects during each week of the study (linear increase, P < 0.02). In study 2, fat-free mass was significantly increased in HMB-supplemented subjects compared with the unsupplemented group at 2 and 4-6 wk of the study (P < 0.05). In conclusion, supplementation with either 1.5 or 3 g HMB/day can partly prevent exercise-induced proteolysis and/or muscle damage and result in larger gains in muscle function associated with resistance training.

    This study just goes to show to see the real benefits of HMB it must be used in Large quantities, as well for an extended peroid in time. It seems to be a decent supplement when cutting because of its ability to reduce proteolysis, if purchased in bulk it much much cheaper.

    In my experience with the product, I think this is most accurate. Unless you intend on using high doses of this product for an extended period of time, save your money.
