Protein bars or shakes?
Should I use protein bars or shakes. In th past I was using N-large shakes but I was thinking of using the protein bars instead. Anyone know of a good protein bar to buy.

Protein bars are good when you don't have your blender readily handy. I can't think of any decent bars that taste great, so be prepared to gag a little bit when getting the after-taste.

MET-RX IMO has some good protein bars, they have some new ones out that have like 32g of protein and only 3g carbs. They are a little bland tasting but, hey if it's nutrition you are after then that is what I would go with. I personally don't seem to mind them, and the chocolate peanut butter IMO is the best tasting one. When I'm at home or have access to a blender, I'll go with the shakes, just b/c they taste really good and I'm not sitting there for 20min trying to swallow thoses bars.

stick with the shakes If you're on the move put some powder in a drink bottle then add some liquid and shake it up when yor're ready to take it.
The protein bars are hard to get down sometimes. IMO shakes are your best bet.

Keep in mind that if you're pre-contest you're gonna want to stay away from the bars because most have a high level of glycerine and that can cause you to retain fluid. Glycerine is how the companies keep the bars from being hard as a rock.

stay with the shakes whenever you can,.........the bars tend to have alot more fat,........and it is kinda hard to find a good tasting one aswell,...but when I do have to eat em I go with the MET-RX......

dumbells101..I had no idea that the bars can make you retain water. What about the shakes? I would stick too the shake but they bloat me. That why I really don't like using them.

what do you prefer: good quality proteins, or useless-to-the-body glycerine?? use shakes IMO unless really out of reach

I think you should stick with the shakes for a couple of reasons. For one bars taste like ass and they can definetely become expensive at like three bones a piece, and depending on how much you wieght, you would need to eat quite a few. Try stuffing down 6 of those fuckers a day! Also, the drinks digest easier.

just an additional note, the bars usually have soy protein in them too. Soy=bad. I also agree with dumbells101.

Stick with the shakes....All of the protein bars I've come across uses Soy Protein. Soy Protein is estrogenic....so.......that should be enough to keep you away from the bars...even Met-Rx has Soy Protein.
