I heard somewhere that the body can only use about 40g of protein every couple of hours and the rest turns into waste. Is this true? Anyone ever heard this?

Never heard this but lets put it back to the top!
Im curious too!
I'm not sure if the magic number is 40g, but I have heard that excess protein gets turned into waste. I think it will depend on how hard you are training and the strain that you're putting on your muscles that dictate what amount gets turned into waste and what your body uses.![]()

I have also heard this from an NCP judge. Let me know too please....

there has never been a study showing this, this is an old gym myth, beware of shotgun answers like this, when you think about it there is no way a 185lb lifter and a 250lb lifter are going to use protein at teh same rate, also nothing magical about protien excess calories go one place...fat if your body can't add fat at the rate you are taking in calories then some will go to waste ejection (shit)also
I heard the same thing but in my Greg Kovacs video i got right here he consumes 100grams of protien i meal so it all depends on ur size i guess, and i doubt its every couple of hours cause ur food would digest in an 1hr, so to say every 1hr would be more accurate in my point of view.
You body will adapt to larger amounts of protein per sitting. Besides better to have bit too much than no enough, very hard for your body to sore it as bodyfat, so not worries there.
