there are serious health risks associated w/ ingesting too much protien.

sorry but absolutely no sources will be checked at this present time....
plus the shake i was talking about is food, not powder.. TUNA CHUNK!!! shakes it's so cheap here 50 cent per 40 grams of protein
100 grams all at once is prob to much to digest split 100 grams into two meals.
Ithink even pro bodybuilders consume just 50 at a time.
It appears to be linked to how much muscle mass you have, and how much the muscle needs to be filled up. Leftover is broken down stored in pools and what spills over is flushed down the toilet.
bump i havn't got my answer

i've also read that it's between 40-50 gms per two hrs. if you do a search on this same subject, this has been answered before...
i'm not an expert, but i'm almost certain that you cannot digest 100g protein all at once. i was going to school for exercise science and during our nutrition classes we always dealt with between 25-35g or protein per meal... 40-50g protein post workout if you were more than 200lbs of lean body mass. unless you're about 600lbs, you'll never use 100g at once. break it up into two or three smaller doses every 2-3 hours.
also, i forgot to mention, that too much protein and too little carbs can make your body get its energy from the breakdown of proteins. this process results in the production of ketones which can also be very detrimental to the kidneys and intestines... so drink your water.
TANK75 - Excellent post. Didn't know that.
Everything I've read on the subject supports the idea that all the body needs it 1 to 1.50 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight consumed each day. 100grams of protein in one meal is way excessive unless your feeding a freaking 600lb bear. I would say that 25-40 grams per meal is sufficient.
From an interview with PB
PB: You know I own a supplement company. The word supplement is the key here. You should eat lots of food, a diet rich in protein, fats, and carbs and then add supplements on top. People who replace their meals with MRP's and things, they're never going to grow. Eat the MRP as well as the meal. That's what an MRP is for, to drink with your steak and eggs. I'm going to be hit for saying this, but all my people have steak and eggs before bed every night. The reason for that is this. In the wild, when a lion eats a zebra, it doesn't only absorb 30 grams of that food, I mean, it only eats once a week. You can extrapolate this to man, we didn't eat every three hours. When we eat, we don't only absorb 30 grams, if we did, we be the size of mice. The fact is that the amount of nutrients we absorb from our food is largely dependent on the kind of food we eat. If you eat red meat and eggs, it's very slowly absorbed. You can eat 150 grams of protein in this fashion and it's going to take all night to be absorbed. That way you're covering yourself throughout the night and you always sleep deep on proteins and fats. It's natural to eat and sleep. So, all my clients will have a big steak and eggs before going to bed, that way I know their muscle cells are getting a constant infusion of amino acids throughout the night. I used to advocate that my clients wake up and eat in the middle of the night. Now I prefer to have them simply eat a high protein moderate fat meal before going to bed.
Have been following these guidelines and eating 450-600G protein per day and had no digestive problems or the shits!
Hope that helped
T
I would stick with about 1.5g of protein per LBM so if you weight 200 lbs eat around 300 grams of protein which would be 50 grams if you eat 6 meals and roughly 38 grams if you space it over twelve...
600g is a shit load of protein per day... thats 100 grams per meal if you eat 6 times a day!!!
yeah i did around 600 for awhile and the strength gains were crazy...over the course of 8-9 meals tho

I believe guidelines (CDC or EPA?) suggest one can/day of light and 1/2days for albacore for 200lb man.
