Its def a nice addition during cutting. You do have to take plenty but the secret is to buy in bulk. HMB does have science to back it up, it's just not cost effective when taken in pill form.

I've read you have to take 3g a day. I've seen 120 capsules at 750mg for about $35. That's roughly $35 for a month's supply. Is that the scope of their expense or is the dosage much higher?

HMB is good but the recommended dose of 3 grams is not enough for someone that is trying to build muscle like we do. 6-12 grams per day from all I have read works better and even at that dose you will not see tons of results. There are much better supplements out tham HMB IMO.

Good to know...What are some much better supplements? I have a fairly good knowledge base when it comes to gear but I know nothing about supplements.

I think each person is a little different in their own personal thoughts on this but mine would be:

    BCAA's
    Glutamine
    Leucine
    CLA
Multi-vits (if you do not get enough variety in your diet)
    Calcium
    Vit C

I use a few things for Joint strength also but not all people need the extra.
