Glutamine is it BULLSHIT or WHAT??

My buddy keeps telling me that Glutamine is bullshit and does nothing. He also claims there is no scientific research backing it up!

So what is the Deal with glutamine?

I've noticed that there is basically a split on this subject I personally feel that when I use it I have better recovery in a shorter amount of time and seem to make quality gains quicker, just my opinion but its hard to say there is scientific evidence that backs this up but evidence is not proof, everything works differently for everybody maybe just give it a try for a few months and see what your response is

I've taken 10-20g ED and got nothing from it. Waste of money.

Oral administration of glutamine, does not have studies backing it up. The studies were done when using IV's. I don't anyone who is using IV's to administer their glutamine.

Check out GiantzII thread on the ineffectiveness of oral glutamine. Hopefully, he will spot this thread and respond.

I would but I posted about 20 studies on Glutamine being BS.

If you believe it doese something for you that's great. I highly doubt its the glutamine however. Seeing as about 70% of orally ingested Glutamine is destroyed in ones gut.

Kinda seems like a waste to me, ESPECIALLY on a calorie surplus. I would MAYBE look further into it for cutting.

take the money you were going to use on the glutamine and buy yourself some chicken breasts or a stripper.

That is probably the minimum dose to experience a benefit since so little is absorbed. Most supplement companies reccomend 5-10g per day which is useless and 40-50g per day is not really cost-effective.

I like it. I definitely think its effective...I mean using 5-10g wont do shit for you. Its the same idea as when I take my BCAA's. The supplement companies recommend like 1g per day...thats a laugh, you wont notice anything from it, but does that mean its not effective, no way. I take it at 30+g per day and its awesome and in fact use the same dosing protocol for glutamine.

Sure there is research saying most is destroyed through oral consumption but there is also studies about the EXACT same thing with whey protein. People still use that like its going out of style. So research studies arent always going to give you the 100% answer, they are good and shed light no doubt, but if you are going to solely rely on research studies and not find out through personal experience then you are shorting yourself imo.

Glutamine is like a holy grail for some, and yet others despise it

All forms of glutamine worked for me.

    Glutamine
    Glutamine Peptides
    N-Acetyl glutamine.
