    thermogenic or clean diet

i was wondering what would work better. i am currently bulking with 2 days of cardio a week. i have a decent sized gut and want to shed the extra fat before i go any further with the bulking. i'm eating clean 7 times a day. i know little about a cutting diet. would it be better to stay eating the way i am and use a thermogenic or look into a cutting diet. i'm 19 6'3" 220 bf%?

Dude, if you want to lose fat, don't bulk. It's simple. You title actually dumbfounded me. You should always eat clean, that should never be in question, esp. if you want to lose weight. The more fat you have, the better you are at storing fat. That being said, adding a thermogenic can certainly help you burn an extra 100 kcal a day or so, definetly a good addition to a weight loss plan.

so it would be a better idea to cut down to a low body fat % and then start to bulk

Dont think you cant lift weights becuase you are cutting. If you have plenty of fat, and not a ton of muscle you can work on both as the same time. Just dont EAT like you are bulking. Lifting weights increases HGH, which stimulates hormone sensitve lipase the limiting step in fat metabolism. It also will increase your caloric deficit without putting your body into starvation mode. If you took the calories you would burn by lifting and instead just ate that much less without working out your body would be more prone to enter starvation mode. More muscle will increase your BMR as well and make you burn more calories when you do cardio. With plenty of fat around, liberating fat will be no problem and you wont catabolize muscle. When people say you must either lose fat or gain muscle but you cant do both they are either wrong or they are refering to people with reletively little fat but who have a good bit of muscle. In that case, the low fat stores resist supplying energy quicky in a caloric deficit and the abundant muscle becomes a back up source of energy. Out of shape people dont need to be concerned with this.
