    too much protein?

i know this sounds really dumb...
last thursday i increased my intake of protein (in powder form) and that night and all the next day i was really sick. i threw up, and my body was just really uncomfortable...so i didn't get any sleep. it sounds likr food poisoning but is there any way of it being from the sudden spike in protein?

i doubt it is from too much protein. how much did you bump it up? for me i couldn't up my whey just because it had me on the toilet every half hour or so. real food works much better for me, both with digestion and gains. i limit shakes to only PWO and i've had much better success.

Because she is a girl. Did you drink milk w/ the protien, the milk could be bad or perhaps you are slightly lactose intolerant.

Sometimes sudden changes in dietary intake will upset the microflora of your intestines. Protien is a very good example of this because the bacteria when faced with a new enviromental condition such as increase protien have to manufacture new enzymes to break down the protiens. This can cause increase in gas production, increased acidic waste, increased nitrogenous waste.
Interesting side note, when you have really bad gas it isnt you producing the gas its bacteria producing exessive Hydrogen Sulfide, which gives your farts the familiar rotten egge smell.

I get that when I drink the watery premade protein shakes, like the kind at the gym.....I always thought it was because it didn't have any "digestive enzymes" along with it as my powder mix does.
