    protein shake vs. weightgainer

This may be a dumb question but I would like to know anyways. What is the point in buying protein powder if all these weightgainer powders have already 50+ grams of protein in them plus the 1800+ calories? I am trying to put on mass and the protein powder has 50+ grams as well but very few calories. Thanks for the help.

because the cals in weight gainers are made of simple sugars and low qulity fat sources. They will make you gain weight, it will be fat. Whole foods are the only way to add quality mass with sensible use of shakes as supplements for pre and post WO. A mass gainer could be used for pre and post workout if it fits with your calorific and macronutrient needs but there are better options (such as mixing your own pre and post WO shake) that way you know hat is in it and can adjust cals and macros to suit you and your current diet.
Mass gainers are for college kids who read flex and are looking for a quick fix to "get big"
