    NSAID & Acetaminophen Question

I've read all about taking NSAID and how they result in decreased levels of post-exercise protein synthesis.

However I have problems sleeping ever since my schedule has changed. In an attempt to get my rest I have been taking ONE Tylenol PM 15 mitues before bed. The bottle calls for TWO. I was only planning on taking the Tylenol PM for about a week or two until my body resets itself to my new hours.

Question is would this one Tylenol PM for two weeks be significant enough to decrease protein systhesis and hypertrophy????

Note: Tylenol PM does contain Acetaminophen

    Tylenol is not a NSAID.

But it contains acetaminophen which is also inhibits protein sysnthesis. I guess I should change the Title????

    good Q

I stopped taking nsaid for joint pain immediately after reading an article in M & F (?) because I feel I work too hard to hamper goals that are already hard to reach for me at 45. However, according to my Dr. the impact is significantly minimal if not taken long enough for there to be a build up in your system. What exactly that level is I have no clue. I would recommend giving your Dr. a buzz...there are sleep meds, as well as pain that do not contain either of those items.

    PEACE,
    Joe

Great! So you actually asked your doctor and the response was, 'NO, unless they are taken over an extended period of time?'

    Excellent news...thanks for the response.

Why not try just diphenhydramine and not worry about it?

Don't believe everything you read, especially if it comes M&F. That magazine is filled with bogus articles and over hyped supplements ads.
Did the article on Nsaids say at what doseage they affect protein sythesis, and was it a human study or some study on a bunch of rats?

No santan is right about the NSAID effecting protein synthesis. The are actually threads on this forum talking about it as well.

I posted over in the lounge as well.

Not much material or opinion wise on Acetaminophen though.
