Is 15,000mg of Arginine too much per day?

I read an article in MD (i think) that states to get past a plateau you should take 5g of Arginine in the AM, pre-workout and at bed. Thats 5,000mg 3 times a day. Yet all the supplements Im seeing only has 500mg pills. So thats 10 pills Id have to take, 3 times per day, 5,000mg each time. Total of 30 pills per day!! Any thought on this???

I was told that too much arginine can cause "free radical-like side effects" such as cold sore. Not sure if this info is correct, but I was under the impression that only glutamine should be taken at 15gm per day.

When you say cold sore you mean herpes outbreak. Having alot of arginine in your system will bring out an outbreak. If you dont have herpes you wont get cold sores
