    It is in a sense that it promotes faster recovery time as an Amino Acid.
    10-15 grams/day is good. Mainly before and after workout

    It is used in IV to prevent breakdown of muscle tissue, immune dysfunction. after major.
    Glutamine is depleted after major burns, traumas, cancer, sepsis, and infection.
    Therefore it become an Essential AMino Acid that must be supplied to prevent the breakdown of the muscles.

    Yes I knew this but what I am asking is it true that it is only effective in the IV. Seen some really knowledgeable guys say that OTC glutamine is useless, that the gut absorbs it before it is utilized. They said oral glutamine will never make it to the muscle as glutamine due to the intestinal cells stealing up most of it and the best way to increase intramuscular glutamine levels is by ingesting a good whey protein supplement since the muscle cells interconvert other amino acids into glutamine. This is what I am looking more clarification on. I believe I read an entire article on glutamine by Warrior on another board and if I remember correctly the jury is still out on it. It was an incredibly long article to read too. In my personal experience I feel when I take glutamine I have better recovery time, this maybe placebo, IDK. Just looking for more input on the situation as I am not a noobie just trying to take the hottest supplements on the market w/ the coolest packaging.

    This is a reason why I don't use BCAA's, maybe if I had money flowing out of my pockets I'd add them in but I feel as long as you re taking in enough solid meals containing high quality protein your amino levels in your bloodstream should always be sufficient to support muscle growth and repair. Again this is a personal choice due to lack of funds and results. I've taken plenty of BCAA's over the past few years and have noticed no difference any recovery, gains, or performance.

    And BTW seen your diet, routine your following now, and your results. very nice my friend

    LOL. No, honestly, Ive heard it both ways and I too would appreciate anyone with some scientific reaearch to back up one side or the other. I feel the same way about Glutamine as you do about BCAA's, if it were free or I was rich Id definately take it. I just dont think its worth the investment and like you said you never know if the recovery aspect is real or just placebo.

    Well I dont know where he heard it from, but then again too much of anything can be bad for you. It wouldn't suprise me if you took in 500grams of glutamine a day for years and ended up with brain damage.

    regardless;
    Its an abundant amino acid and I'm sure taking 5 grams PWO might help a little with recovery... but its only going to help a little bit. its not as anabolic as a steroid. I'd say its worth the money if you could find a decent price for it.

    Thats so funny. Your a funny dude DSM, I like you in a non-homo way.

    Me and this Asian powerlifter (who is gigantic BTW) where talking about having an IV through our workouts the other day. We'd be getting all the nutrients in our blood stream to hopefully keep the intensity throughout and all the other benefits. Too bad that won't ever happen..... or will it......

    ive seen professional athletes do this often. I think IV's are kind of extreme, who the **** wants to lug that shit around? and for what? hydration, electrolytes, Glutamine? I think its a little stupid. People will do anything to make gains slightly faster these days I guess.

    I have to agree with what Abbot says, I used to think Glutamine was the bee's knees and convinced it was helping me with gains, but the stuff is so expensive and a waste of money.

    The only suppliments I think I could ever swear by was Whey Protein and Creatin.
