Exclamation Is this GNC guy full of crap?

My brother was recently at GNC talking to the guy who works there about Muscle Milk, and he said that contrary to what the bottle instructs, Muscle Milk should not be taken mixed with milk, only water. His claim was that there is a hormone or chemical in milk which actually inhibits the absorption of the muscle milk when ingested together. Does this have any truth behind it whatsoever or is this just nonsense??

I myself work at GNC..and from what I know and have heard mixing whey with milk ( more whey) causes the protein to take longer to break down. I always mix mine with water OJ and frozen fruit to bump up my glyco levels and spike my slin levels post workout.

I work for them to and never heard that before....

Don't buy Muscle milk, GARBAGE. Assload of fiber and low quality MCTs in the form of saturated fat. They also use shit grade protein. Advertised for post workout nutrition even though it would be a terrible choice.

Cytosport is NO better than Muscletech when it comes to advertising. I could rant about this shit all day.

personally, I go for ON brand protein Gold Standard Whey or GNC Wheybolic Extreme. But I don't recommend the latter of the two because of the price, I only use because of my discount. For whey to use as meal replacement I usually buy 'economy protein' which would be a tub of whey concentrate.

Are you saying the saturated fat and protein is made from MCTs?? If you are I dont think you know what Medium Chain Triglycerides are or what they do.

Nope lol, never heard of protein in the form of a triglyceride. I'll try and reword that to eliminate confusion.

    I know what MCTS are...

I was not trying to call you out, just wanting to make sure you typed what you meant. Hate to see a bunch of people running around asking if their protein is made from low grade MCT's.

    Oh man...nice thread.
Yes I know Muscle Milk is not great as far as quality, but as far as taste and price...WOW! Chocolate Mint Chip is awesome. I keep a small one at home, for a backup, but my main protein source is kept in my work cubicle...which is listed below.

My health nut / organic freak of a friend (and former NYSC personal trainer before enrolling for med school in beautiful St Maarten) recommended Jay Robb to me. The price on that stuff was out of control. $115 for 5lbs?!?! With the economy the way it is, I will probably not re-order from them. And it didn't taste great either. Their version of chocolate didn't even taste like chocolate. More like watered down Nestle Quik. But I know, organic this, and natural Stevia that, and made from cows not treated w/ the rGBH hormone yadda yadda.

What tasted really good (but not Muscle Milk good) and Mr. Trainer / Doctor Intern / Organic freak recommended was Muscle Provider by Beverly. My buddy steered me away from this and to Jay Robb because of the sweetener being Sucralose, which I didn't care if it did or not. Cons was this only came in 2 lb jugs, not 5 lb. And it's not readily available at your local GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. And for 2 lbs the price was around $40. So also, not as cheap as Muscle Milk but not as expensive as Jay Robb.

    Suggestions anyone?
    Peace all!

By how you set up that paragraph it looks like spam....

But anyhow that is the most expensive protein I have ever seen in my life. Worse than the MSRP prices gnc puts on their products. Not even worth it. Might as well buy a tub of hydrolysed peptides at about the same price bracket.

LOL, not SPAM. I just ramble alot...everyone has a "friend" who recommends something. But I was just trying to backup my friend's credibility. Like how he's a real organic nut, former NYSC personal trainer, and now Doctor- he tried telling me organic whole milk from Whole Foods tasted more creamier than normal supermarket whole milk.

He refused to train me anymore when a friend accidentally leaked to him when drunk I was on AS. Our friendship was almost on the line. That's how he is...but things cool with him now.

    Peace all!

Dude...you bought protein powder from THIS guy? Are you serious? On his website...$137 for 5 lbs...GTFO!!!! That's completely retarded. Sorry dude, but you're an ass for buying that garbage. Same goes for the Beverly Muscle Provider or whatever...hardcore, ass raping, rip off.

Yea I agree Jay Robb was expensive stuff. Organic-schmorganic! I would hunt the Net prior to purchasing for a 15-20% coupon, but it was still $115'ish for the 5 lb'er. Beverly Muscle Provider 2 lb'er for $38 wasn't bad, but not as cheap as Muscle Milk...

    Peace all

Taste Beverly Muscle Provider or Muscle Milk in comparison to Jay Robb. I don't even understand how Jay Robb can call their "chocolate" flavor CHOCOLATE. More like a tan color like if you squeezed a whole bunch of caramel in a cup of milk, LOL.

I'll look into the Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey, that NoooMoto suggested, when it's time for a refill. Is that that ON Cycle / OFF Cycle stuff I see at GNC??

oh yea trust me i know theres def better tasting protein powders out there, muscle milk is the shit although i dont drink it anymore, usually ill go with ON's natural whey. i just used to get jay robb b/c its cold processed so the amino acids and nutrients are still intact instead of being adultered through processing and such, plus RBGH doesnt sound too appetizing to me. idk if you ever tried jay robbs strawberry, but u put a banana in that and your good to go, i always go for the chocolate powders, but with jay robb strawberry was soooo much better...

    protein supplements

anybody ever try elite 12 from dramatize nutrition? i just bought 5lb container of vanilla flavor. it dose'nt taste that great but the nutritional profile seems good as compared to muscle milk which i was also told is crap by the guy that recomended elite 12 to me. 12 hour sustained release of protein sounded good especially if u miss a meal

Is ON's Natural 100% Whey Gold Standard (http://www.optimumnutrition.com/prod...ard-p-202.html)"cold processed" like Jay Robb's?? 5 lbs of this is $75 vs Jay Robb's 5 lb'er for $135. This ON stuff has 24g of protein and 5.5g of BCAA's.

Also does anyone know the difference with the ON's Natural 100% Whey Gold Standard, as mentioned above, vs ON's Natural Pro Complex (http://www.optimumnutrition.com/prod...lex-p-268.html) which has 60g of protein and 14g of BCAA's. This stuff is 4.6 lbs for $90, and still cheaper than Jay Robb.

    Peace all!!
