    energy supplement

im taking an energy powder which i mix with water and drink up during workouts. its got plenty of glucose in it but also comes with 100mg of sodium per serving so basically like an isotonic energy drink. is the sodium an issue? im on cycle atm and wondering if that sodium would be a bad idea for water retention.

    The logic here is flawed.
Electrolytes (Sodium, Magnesium, Potassium, and Calcium) along with several body salts, work to maintain and stabilize inter- and intracellular fluid levels. This is an issue when training especially when it’s intense or extended, which and correctly so, is why your supplement adds sodium.

SO SODIUM IS "GOOD" FOR WATER RETENTION!

What you may be thinking of is excessive sodium which causes TOO MUCH water retention and promotes a bloated look and feel which obviously hinders the defined aesthetic/cosmetic appearance. But most supplements (including yours) won’t possess high enough amounts of any electrolytes to elicit that effect, especially while ingested during training. So enjoy and stay hydrated. Also I wrote a small piece on dehydration on Probodybuilding.com should you care to read it:

really?? you consume glucose during your workout?? so the body starts sending blood and oxygen to the digestive system instead of the body parts you are working??
