I went back to oats and whey PWO. Dex made me feel like crap and I never noticed the difference in high gi carbs PWO compared to low gi.

I did high GI for many years and now doing low GI. I noticed I stay leaner consuming low GI carbs PWO.

I don't buy the high GI carbs for this reason.
You are trying to restore glycogen right ? Now, if you are a pro and are going to be working out 2 maybe 3 times a day then i can see the need to try and replenish as fast as possible so it doesn't effect your second or third workout.

Now if your an average-joe chances are after a workout you aren't going to be lifting again for another 24 (sometimes 48 hrs) then i don't see the point in trying to replenish it ASAP.

    Just my opinion.

i found low GI carbs work better for me too for the most part..although recently Ive been experimenting with karbolyn (similar to waxy) and results have been pretty good..added about 8-10 lbs in 2 months without changing really anything else in my diet..probably going back to oats for a while though

There is no significant benefit. Like dsm said if you are doing multiple workouts in a day and need the most recovery as possible then yes it is feasible. But in yours and my case it won't be all that beneficial and will contribute to fat gain.

Potatoes would be more a simple sugar since it is a starch that starts to get broken down into sugar while inside the mouth. Oats would be a better choice, but potatoes is definitely better than dextrose/maltodextrin.

quick simple sugars are beneficial pwo. the body will look for quick replenishment straight after, aswell as this the simple sugars will help increase an insulin spike. your body will convert some of the protein you consume straight after and therefore waste what you want it to do ie, growth and repair. i have always had a glucose drink straight after and whey protein 20mins or so after that with no fat gain problems

You don't need simple sugars post workout. Your body is already in a hypersensitive state post workout. Protein gets within the bloodstream within 20mins of ingestion. Complex (ex: oats) carbs would be a much better choice.
