    Too much caffeine

Anyone have some science (or opinion) on if too much caffeine could stall muscle growth?
That's with enough enough water to compensate for the dehydrating effect.

Caffeine increases cortisol cortisol decreases growth hormone ..

Increased cortisol leads to less dhea output.

Caffeine effects s4 sleep and depletes meltaonin.

No ammount of caffeine is needed for training people who sugest otherwise are not educated in its ill effects.

Stressing your cns and lifting heavy weights dont go well together. It burns you out.

Moderate caffeine consumption (normal) increases insulin resistance by 15% from the last study i cited.

Caffeine i pre work out drinks is a scam v redbull rockstar its all leaving us in figh or flight with drained adrenals...

I read somewhere that there was a ton of caffeine in some commercial protein powders and the manufacturers and suppliers avoided to name the amounts.

Personally I use caffeine. I know its not the best, I can't get up in the morning (8hrs a night of sleep) without getting some caffeine in me.

Its the only bad habit I have, I eat clean, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't use drugs, I don't skimp on sleep....but caffeine is the bane of my existence. I wish I could just skip it, but when I'm drained I use it, and that seems like everyday.

No excuse, but I do it.

You are drained because of it my friend... It smashes your adrenals and wrecks your sleep so you wake up feeling like shit then you need another hit of "false energy" to get through the day eventually you are takingit multiple times a day to simply survive. I see this many times.

    And that is the problem!

This book is well worth the read! Alot of double blind placebo studies and good info...

I've never read that or any book in relation to caffeine I must admit with how neurotic I am about the other things I put in my body I use caffeine as somewhat of an ignorant user.

Any specific health side effects from stopping a 200-400mg a day caffeine use? Other than the obvious withdraw effects like lethargy, headache, etc?

Okay I have read the wikipedia entry on caffeine, in specific the tolerance & withdrawal and overuse sections.

It seems I am at the low end of use and at the low end for long term issues/addictions but I am still going to try and limit or remove caffeine from my daily supplementation (if you can call it that.).

Best thing you can do mate...

I one thing that is interesting is you look at caffeine serves. I.e what studies are based on (those old little english cups that nannas dirnk out of that hole a mouthfull of liquid)

That is generally a serve not this 500ml (16oz i think?) rubbish that you drink 4 times a day...

Alot of studies have shown 1 coffee can effect s4 sleep.. 1. Amazing shit.

People say meh it doesnt effect me, well why do you keep drinking it? Becuase you feel like shit? Well then it has effected you...

I reccomend the book for a read i havnt finished it yet i have alot of books im reading at the moment but dont stop straight away wein yourself off it...

Might take 3 months to get back to normal so persist with it and its worth it..

Someone above made a comment about some stack?

    Im not familure with it?

I buy amino acids and supplements bulk in kg's and make my own post pre workout supplements 100% pure no fillers.

Sweetners caffeine sugars ect are just costing people money and make the product cheaper for people to make...

EDIT: I just googled eca stack, I have never come into contact with it have only heard things. Things like that are hard to get here in australia as laws are different.. Plus i wouldnt want it anyway. Starvation also causes fat loss.. Doesnt mean its the right way to do it..

With all asprins negative side effects decreased protein synthesis being one of them then the rest of the stuff in it. Its something i would stay clear from..

You can not band aid proper nutrition sleep lifestyle and exercise..

Thanks for the help n00bs, I'm gonna try to get my hands on that book up here in Canada.

As for the caffeine I picked up some caffeine supplements instead of the usual Rockstar Burner and I'm gonna do 200mgs a day this week, 100mgs a day next week, then no more caffeine for me anymore.

Thanks for the heads up. There is no point in training if I'm doing things incorrectly to hurt my progress anyways.

Well I'm on an ECA stack right now, what I'm going to do is come off of it slowly (avoiding the caffeine headaches) and keep my diet the same and see how my gains/losses are effected.
