    glutamine

I use optimum nutrition whey protein, and it says it has 4grams of glutamine per serving(I guess). My question is this should i take more and when? Also what does it actually do for you? thanks.

glutamine helps your muscles recover faster.. take 10-15g at a time 3 times a day MINIMUM... si u assume that is per scoop and u use two scoop per shake.. so add an extra tablespoon of glutamine per shake

Only proven to be effective via IV administration. It assists in helping your immune system but that's about it. Don't waste your money on adding additional Glutamine into your supplement lineup.

not doubting you but do you have sources for this information?? I know you are far more knowledgable in this department, but that is a pretty strong claim.. especially since i have never heard of protien being administered interveniously??/

I was referring to Glut. Search through Pubmed it's somewhere in there. I didn't bother saving. Take my word for it or don't, no big deal.

hp if supplying extra glutamine is not worth the money, is it worth taking extra bcaa other than whats on the protein itself? Also what bcaa's are good(meaning which brand). thanks.

Hell yes take free form BCAA's. These are the king of all supplements IMO. I take them throughout the day - upon waking, between meals, pre/intra/post PWO all on an empty stomach.

I'm an avid ON user so their BCAA's are what I would recommend.

I know HP is set in his views about glutamine but I have read studies that say otherwise.

The ones I have seen say it is only effective in large doses, like 15-20g at a time.

There will be a study that will try to discredit anything and everything, this is why I believe personal experience plays a major role. But in my experience, Glutamine didn't do shit for me but put a hole in my wallet.
