    Casein Protein Question

I have taken all kinds of different Whey's and never had a problem getting them down. The other day I thought I would try a Casein and see what happens. I just bought the GNC Pro Performance because it was buy one, get one half off. Anyway, it is absolutely nasty. It is too sweet, and I am having a problem getting it down. Is this fairly common for casein, or should I try another brand?

the texture is definitely different, but the flavor is based on the company. I'd try another one. I like www.trueprotein.com you can get it unflavored if you want and buy the flavor separately so you can add as much or as little as you want.

Casein is definitely more chalky like or grittier but as to taste as max said its company based, try adding more water like double what the directions say, should water down the sweetness.

Save your money bud. The whole slow absorption protein story is bogus.

Yah how do u figure that man?

Casein is a slower digesting protein, ideal for overnight. I take 50g Casein every night right before bed. Dymatize makes a good casein protein mix.

There is no such thing as slow absorbing protein unless we're talking about whole foods. Taking Casein before bedtime will not feed your body during your entire sleep period. Also, you won't go catabolic within 8 hours - save your money and just use whey.

    Ignore this guy.

Casein works, and is ideal for before bed and meal replacements.

Might wanna switch to skim cottage cheese. Cheaper and real food its optimal compared to powders. Don't know who told that guy what he thinks he knows about casein.
