    Recovery Shake Powders

Ok i've tried both of these and they seem to work good, just wanted to get some opinions on using these for PWO. In the past I always just did 40-50g whey and a cup of oats but because of the taste, convenience and productivity i've branched out to try these products... Anyone have any objections to using these?

ive been taking protein shakes since i was 16, now 28, never gained anything from them, stopped taking them 2 months ago and havent noticed a single difference. so now i think the protein scoops are a major waste of money and im sure im not alone there. as for my PWO tho i just have chocolate milk with a lil creatine to drink towards the end of my workout to replace used carbs.

Don't think I agree that they are a waste, they are what they are. I will say food is a more effective option but it's difficult for most people.

Real food is the key! protein shakes and bars arent intended to replace the essential nutrients you would get from food. Also alot of these designer proteins have too much shit in them and in the end you get nothing but a thin wallet.

I mean that sounds good and all, but i'd love to see some evidence on which is truly better (Based on same macros) or are they so close to eachother that it doesn't matter.

I like do to the recovery shake, it's easy for me and it's like a treat almost. Then i'll eat about 1.5 hrs later... Just wanting to make sure one isn't significantly better than the other. Someone smart hit me with a study...

I like using a whey isolate shakes in between my meals and PWO. As mentioned,,nothing beats whole foods but these are the next best
option for building muscle while on the go and quick to make. My body absorbs the whey isolate like a sponge.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but 99% of Supplements are a waste of money. All you need is creatine monohydate (which isn't "required"), maybe 1/2 - 1 scoop of Whey post-workout and a multivit which isn't evenly necessarily related to bodybuilding.

Instead of looking for evidence that there is something beneficial to powders why not instead look at what isn't beneficial. Have you ever taken the time to look into the ingredients on some of that ? The filler in some of those is worse than what they fill chocolate bars with in my opinion.

When was the last time you saw NO Xplode being grown on a field or Animal Pump being slaughtered on a farm ? Oh wait...

Humans have adapted over the years to tolerate a lot of junk (specifically the rise of the fast food industry) but it is still far from optimal comparative to real food. A small example - my Grandfather, still alive, at 76 years old was a blacksmith when he was younger. His upper half of his body still looks better than 50% of the chumps at the gym that waste hundreds of dollars a month on supps cause he hauled metal all over the place day in and day out and ate like a horse when there was no such thing as McDonalds or Protein Blends or Myofusion or any of that.

That's awesome and I dig the story of your grandfather, that's pretty cool. I still think that you can benefit almost equally from a pwo shake vs a meal, plus it's easier. I need to search for a study on it, I bet there's tons here on this site. I'm on your side with food over supps, i'm just asking some opinions on the pre made recovery powers. I feel like i've been getting good results using it, but I can see it's not a favorite for the majority.

If you want a recovery drink that works but it has no protien in it.
Ice chips with a little lemon juice and some honey. Add water and stir. You will feel so much better after a tough workout.

Electrolytes are important PWO, and I am a believer that a fast absorbing protein couldn't hurt, as long as it's fairly healthy and not filled with a bunch of shitty additives. Also, micronutrients are very overlooked in my opinion, and these days, supplementing with extra nutrients is really necessary since our food supply quality is dwindling. Green powders, multi-vitamins, and freshly juiced veggies are hugely important to maintaining a properly working immune system, and digestive function. It also helps to cleanse your body's filters and essential organs like the lungs, kidney, liver, gallbladder, and spleen. Keep your body healthy and nourished and your muscle growth will follow in it's footsteps, due to faster recovery, due to having a stronger immune system that's less bogged down by toxicity and acidosis!
