Want to make my own Pre-workout + Geranium Root extract.. never again.

    Hi guys,

Just wanted to throw out my oppinion on the common ingredient in pre workout sups called geranium or geranium root extract. It had an extremely negative effect on me for years which i didnt realise until i had stopped using it. I recently found out some facts about geranium that were, to me, pretty shocking.

Ive been using pre-workouts for about 4-5 years and have tried most brands. I first started having some mental health issues about 6 months after using methyl-mass by EST on a weekly basis (this was roughly 2 years ago). Over the past few years i swapped back and forth with many different pre-workouts which of most contained geranium. I would constantly suffer from - aggression, extreme emotional/hormonal imbalances, adrenal-fatigue, anti-social behaviour and depression.

I did a bit of research, mind you it is really hard to find anything negative about geranium, just the effects and some wanky side effects like headaches, nausia, nothin long term tho. Strange for a product designed to completely expell all of your adrenalin in one hit leaving you in an anxiety-stricken zombie-like state for 12 hours or so.
I found some forums where people said that meth-amphetamine users will sometimes snort geranium as a substitute for meth-amphetamines... wow.. that is really ****ed up if you ask me, why the **** have i been taking this shit 4 times a week pre workout. Geranium or DMAA is used in legal high pills such as party pills etc which are, basically, a legal form of extacy.. awesome! so once again i may as well have been poppin e's before training week in week out for 2 years.

I just think that people need to be educated on this stuff, and it can be dangerous for persons who are ceceptable to metal health issues. Many other friends of mine have suffered similar symptoms from this shit and i am worried as it is becoming the staple ingredient in most pre workouts on the market.

    SECOND:

Looking to make my own pre-workout caps including caffeine and some other stuff.
Just wondering which ingredient in your preworkout gives you the pump??? I have read that GPLC (glycine propionyl-l-carnitine) is great for a pump. i used gplc (4.5g) pre-workout, on its own a few time and i hate it. It gives me barely any pump, makes my muscles feel like shit during and after and the next day and i feel skinny and soft, yuck.

Also Currently taking con-crete which is an excellent supplement, love it!

    Cheers

    Good post!

Geranium aka 1, 3 dime is a potent stimulant used in most of your popular preworkout supps ie Jack3d, 1MR. It has recently gotten some bad exposure and is on the FDA's watch list and I'm sure will be banned within a years time. Bpi has recently "reformulated" their 1MR and removed the "dime" in it. I'm sure we will be seeing it removed from other popular supps as well.

Arginine is a vasodilator and a common ingredient in pre workout supps attributed to the "pump" effect. This is reportedly converts to Nitric Oxide in your system. Arginine AKG is the most desired over L-Arginine or arginine esters. Unfortunately, like most aminos, herbs or chemicals Arginine is controversial as to wether its effective in producing the desired effect.

I tend to focus on pre w/o supps that contain mild stims for focus, hydrolyzed protein, and a good amount of aminos. Citruline malate and beta alanine are great for buffering lactaic acid and increasing stamina.

Awesome, thanks for that info bro! I did a little reading previously on arginine and i assumed it was the compound responcible, although, as you say, there are some conflicting scientific opinions with the product. I dont see what else can stimulate the 'PUMP' other than arginine though? maybe kre-Altkalyn creatine or some sort of creatine blend would be effective?? if im on the right track?? maybe not..

I find with taking a larger serving of con-cret pre workout and smaller serving EOD, i get more of a gradual result, in the sense that it takes a few weeks to produce a result and i walk around 24/7 feeling fuller and more muscular. Although, taken pre-workout, it doesnt give me much more pump or much more muscular endurance/energy to be honest.

Absolutely! Citruline malate and beta alanine sound like a great addition, i will deffinately want to be combating that lactic.
