    What and When ?

I realise this is a fairly basic question, but new at this so be gentle .
Trying to bulk up - 41 yrs old . Trying hard to get diet right and gym 1/2 times a week for last 15 months and 3/4 times per week last 3. Problem is I have read conflicting information as regards when and what supplements to take . At the moment I am using usn anabolic muscle fuel once a day also taking whey protein later at night. The usn stuff seems to help but if I take it on non gym days I find it heads to my belly ( prob a lot to do with my age ) if I only take it on gym days things seem to get better but muscle growth is slower. Gym every day isnt an option for me due to work and family ties.
Spent most of my life trying to put on weight, but I guess as my metabolism slows with age, I am finding it increasing easy to get a gut. Any advice would be greatly appreciated ........ old skinny fat guy

I wouldn't worry about specific supplements as much as your daily diet. The best way to get your protein is through food.

The guys in the nutrition section can get your body headed in the right direction. Post up your typical daily diet in the nutrition section and they can tell you what to eat if you want to either grow muscle, or lose fat.

Whey protein is good, just makes sure it fits into your overall diet. It will only turn to fat if you are eating too many calories during the day.

I agree with Johnny completely. Supplements are usually a waste of money unless you are super dedicated, they give a very very small edge but lets be real supplement companies just want your money. Diet and cardio will be key to losing that body fat and building a solid frame.
