    Krill Oil or Fish Oil

Hey brothers (and sisters!).....I've been doing some reading and research on krill oil and the benefits of Krill oil over traditional fish oil supplements. I've seen some interesting data on the greater benefits of krill oil:

    - HDL increases by more than 10 times compared to fish oil (HDL 44% vs. 4.2%)

    - LDL decreases 16 times more than with regular fish oil (LDL 32% vs. 2%)

    - Joint pain/inflammation reduced 3 times more than with regular fish oil (studies at University of Western Ontario and McMaster University, Canada)

    - Faster/easier weight loss by improved glucose metabolism and stabilization of blood sugar levels

    - Prevention of blood clots and high blood pressure

Just curious if anyone has had any experience with Krill oil and if you feel the benefits are superior to the customary fish oil supplements. Any wisdom on the topic you have I would be interested in hearing about.

    Thanks!

    Cheers,

I've used krill oil once. Honestly I didn't notice the difference... my bank account did though.

I buy 200 x 1500mg fish oil capsules of ~$16. The krill oil that I bought was ~$41 for 30 x 500mg (I got it on special for $18 though)

Were those studies based on a mg for mg comparison?

Check medical literature on Pubmed. I'll list references on Friday. I'm responding from my phone and can't copy & paste links.

It's still a developing area. Lots of info on Internet if you Google it but I put more value in controlled studies.

Yes, I use a lot of his products. Prices aren't too bad ad he does have some interesting online news. A lot of seems to be promotional in nature pushing the consumer to buy or at least consider his products, but I have no complaints so far with his products.

I use fish oil gel caps to avoid the taste. I've never tried krill oil, but if the price is that dramatically different, then I probably won't be trying it anytime soon.
