    Fish oil

Is there an optimum time to take fish oil (pre/post workout, before bed, upon waking)? Or does it not really matter as long as you take it.

It doesn't really matter but I prefer taking it before bed as fats are slow digesting and I tend to burp up a disgusting fishy flavor if I take it during the day.

I heard a lot about fishy burps, your fish oil is probably low quality. I buy mine from the co-op and freeze it so there isn't a chance of fishy burps. Try putting yours in the freezer and see if that helps with the fish taste. Thanks for the response by the way.

Be sure to take Vitamin E at the same time to protect the fatty acids.

The study basically says it is not as beneficial for the heart as once thought. It say nothing about brain development and anything else.

Nonsense. It's only because people don't know how to supplement EFA's properly.

Would recommend taking before bed and, most importantly, post-coitus, due to the high risk of fish burps. For instance: lunch with carbonated beverage + fish oil = fish burps.

The only way to prevent fish burps is to get Enteric coated capsules. However, those cost a bit more.

Fish oil typically lowers triglycerides and does little for HDL, LDL, or total cholesterol. A few studies are now suggesting that krill oil is superior to fish oil. I switched to krill oil 6 months ago. Fish burps haven't been a problem.

I'm surprised not many people list any Optimum products. I find the company to be really reliable and produce good quality products. I especially like the fish or flaxseed oil from Optimum.

I personally would avoid it post workout. I take in as little fat as possible during this time in order to ensure quick absorption of the nutrients i need

I take 6 grams broken up into 3 doses per day. Mostly taken with ALA and CLA right before, during or right after a meal to help with the absorbtion.
