Thread: My supplementing.

    My supplementing.

Alright guys I have a huge question concerning my supplementation.

    My current supplementing:
Six star test boosters (6 tabs daily)
    Chrysin 500 (2 tabs morning/2 tabs noon)
NO Explode (2 scoops hour before workout)
Six star creatine (1 scoop 30 min before workout)
Whey Protein (2 scoops right after workout)
Cytosport Mass Gainer (1 scoop right before bed)

Is there anything I can change or add to get the most out of my hard work?

What goals are you trying to achieve with these supplements?
    What is your diet like?

Off the bat i would drop the test boosters, waste of $ IMO
I think there are better values out there than the Six Star brand, not saying its not a quality product, but there are other brands you can get more for your $

I'm mainly trying to bulk hence the mass gainer. And I'm trying to get more intensity in my workouts.

The test boosters are actually priced well. I pay $10 for a 100 tablet bottle.

OK, bulk, got it. While mass gainers can certainly be helpful how does the rest of your diet look? Also can you please post your stats?

If you're looking to get more 'intensity' out of your workouts there are a few preworkout supps that come to mind. Jack3d is a pretty popular preworkout supp (or any PWO containing DMAA). Me, personally, PWO supps containing DMAA have been not as effective as I've been used to so I sought a different means of PWO stim---I came across some positive reviews for DS Craze and have been using it for the past 2 weeks. It has given me the focus/energy I am accustomed to. Theres not much in the side of the 'pump', but thats never been an important factor of a preworkout supp for me.

While you're correct that $10 for a 100 tablet bottle of test booster is not expensive, I should clarify that IMO test boosters are a waste of $ due to perceived ineffectiveness on the side of results.

My diet is pretty good based on lean meats vegetables and fruit with a couple cheats such as Swiss Rolls so I can get in 3000 calories a day.

As of now I am 5'10" 215lbs and 12% BF

Thank you for the info about the test boosters. I guess I could always switch it to a pro-hormone if needed.

At whatever age if ur only eating 3k cals ur not gonna get bigger. With your stats and only exercising 3-5 times a week your tdee is only around 3k cal......?

    I'm "18" but yes, I can only stomach 3k I get sick if I try for 4k.

But 3k is still a huge jump from 2k

    OK, here I go

When you say 'pretty good' and 'swiss rolls' in the same sentence I have to believe that it is not as good as you think--not intended as flame, but as quick observation. You say you're trying to get in 3000 cals a day, and I can tell you at 5'10" that is no wheres near the amount of calories you would have to ingest per day in order to 'bulk'. My last cutting diet I started on 3000cals/day. Utilizing your stats (saw that you were 18 in another post) you're BMR is 2176...plug that into the Harris Benedict formula (I utilized mod. active multipler of 1.55) your maintanence calories are 3366, meaning you would need to ingest 3,366 calories/day to maintain your weight (give or take a lb or 2 here and there).

    Now

A good starting point for any 'cut' or 'bulk' is 500 cals above maintenance for a bulk or 500 cals below for a cut, then adjusting from there. SO if you were looking to bulk I would start at ~3800 and go from there. Im interested in seeing what your diet is specifically pertaining to how many times per day you are eating and what specific foods you are ingesting. Check out the diet forum, better yet I'll PM my last bulker diet and we can adjust from there

<Rant><Broken Record>Being 18, you do not need any sort of OTC test booster, and you DEFINITELY do not need ANY ProHormone whatsoever. ProHormones will absolutely do more harm than good at your age. You're natural test levels are through the ROOF right now. If I could go back in time to your age (not much older than you, a ripe young 27) I would heed everyones advice about DIET DIET DIET and not waste $ on supplements. Believe me, I get it. You see the big fancy advertisements in Muscle & Fitness being pimped by Cutler, Heath etc and think 'hell yea I can look like them if I take this'...I fell for it many a times. At the end of the day if you're serious about changing the way you look, putting on mass, getting stronger etc etc it is imperative/critical to perfect the diet first. </Broken Record></Rant>

Surprisingly, after jumping to 3k calories I have added 4 lbs within a week. Its weird but it happened. I have a slower metabolism so that might alter my eating. Its hard for me to eat actual food. Ever since I've been really fat I stopped eating and two years ago started to eat normally. Overall I went from consuming maybe 1400 calories at the most to 3k

How long were you eating 1400cal/day for? Im not surprised either that you added 4lbs in one week after eating that few cals. Be weary of putting on weight too quickly as that will typically result in more fat gain than lean gain (yes I know fat gain is inevitable during any bulking diet but can be kept to a minimum if proper precautions are taken--4lbs in a week is too much IMO, I know, I've been there)

I understand it can be difficult to eat 'real food' during the day. One suggestion I can offer for that is to prepare your meals the night before, put them up in tupperware containers and you dont have to worry about missing meals the following day. Pain in the ass? Yes. Effective? You betcha. Does it get easier with time? You betcha again.

It sounds to me (again, no flame, not trying to be a dick etc etc etc) that you are attempting to use supplements as a crutch for your short comings in your diet. Will you get some gains? I dont know, maybe, but they are not going to be as 'good' or efficient as they would if you had a solid diet plan in line. At the end of the day there is not a magic pill, powder or liquid that will turn you into looking like the guys in the magazines. Diet is the key, supplements should be used to supplement.

    Did I answer your Q? lol ><

Lol. Thank you for the answer and help about real food. I was only eating 1400 a day when I was 15 and it dropped myeto 4% BF it was dangerous but I wasn't fat. Consulting a friend of mine who used tons of steroids and has superb nutrition got me to a healthy level of BF. Anyways, I am not trying to use supps as crutches but it is hard to eat my 5 meals a day.

Is it hard? Of course! Impossible? No f'in way. There are different ways you can ensure you're getting the proper amount of macros/day via whole foods. Like I suggested earlier, preparing your meals the night before in tupperware containers. Don't feel like cooking every night? No biggy, prepare all your food during one day of the week (I prefer Sunday while I'm watching my Jets getting rolled). EG I bake a club pack of boneless skinless chicken breast and pop them in a couple of larger tupperware containers. When I'm 'preparing' my meals the night before, I separate them into smaller individual tupp containers and bag em up. That way when i'm all ready to go the following morning (not a morning person ><)

A couple of 'conveient' foods come to mind as well...Starkist makes Tunafish in a pouch, Uncle Bens makes a microwaveable brown rice packet (HATE THE BOIL IN BAG ones). Thats all I got for now, havent had coffee yet LOL. Post back and I'll think of some more stuff

    BCD OUT ><

I'll have to try making the food for the week. It sounds like it would help out a lot.

Its okay that you like the Jets... its just a shame the won't let Tebow do work. Sanchez is a little girl.
