    Question Question about BCAA supplementation...

As some of you may know, I armwrestle professionally. Well one of my main issues during a tournament is the "pump" I get in my arm right after a match. (Veins protruding, arm tight, stiff, and full of blood.) Not the best thing to happen, when your next match may be 1 minute later. No matter how much I work on my stamina, it's different during a tournament. There is alot more adrenaline pumping, in my opinion! My arm gets pumped ALOT faster.

I was told before my tournament, to avoid pre-workout suppliments (which make sense, since that is where a good pump sometimes comes from.)

Well.....another person told me to start taking BCAAs, because it might help to reduce that "pump" i get. He didn't really tell me the reasoning behind this statement though. Even after reading about what BCAAs are, i still can't grasp the logic behind his comment. This is where I was hoping you fellow board members can chime in! Also, if there are other recommendations to lessen the "pump", please share your thoughts!

    Thanks fellas!

Glutamine is designed to aid in recovery post workout. Dont' think a BCAA will help much

    Good luck!

    ^^+1

I megadose BCAAs during a cut to minimize muscular catabolism, dont see how it would 'reduce' your pumps

Are you saying I can take the Glutamine before a tourney?

BCAAs won't do anything. I don't think there's even a product or food on the market that can reduce pumps considering virtually all people are trying to achieve a bigger pump

everyone loves the "pump" but for me they are a pain in the ass as they seem to get in the way of the last few reps of a set. The pump I like is the pump i get from repping to failure with 4 or 5 sets failing at the 5/10/15 rep range after reasonable warm up. For me, if i fail at these rep intervals for three sets, I am pumped, and don't need a NO product to get me there.

Yea, I'm pretty sure we will NEVER see a product on the market that reduces "pump"! Who would buy it? (well besides me!)

Maybe drink a 6-pack before? Thin the blood! ha!

Hmm... Stimulatants get you jacked up, but don't they reduce your pumps? I know they can knock down your boners. What about the ECA stack? That will knock down your wood like grandpa in a speedo. Your heart will race like crazy, but your blood flow will be restricted if that makes sense?
