    Age old question

    Is it true that ur body can only digest 25 grams of protein at a pop. I did some research and it said for the hard training athlete that 25 grams is BS!
    I said for hard trainers, the body can absorb about 50 grams.

    I'm just curious because I don't want to take in more then my body will use at any given point and be stored as fat.

    I think it's a very individualistic factor. I tend to keep my protein to 50-60 grams max per serving. I have no evidence that says my body can digest this, but I'm of the mindset that the "25g protein every hour" etc is silly, once I eat 200g chicken, it's in my digestive system for a long period of time. The idea that my body has fully digested it in 1hour seems ridiculous to me.

    As long as I split my protein relatively evenly over the day, I'm happy that my body has time to use and digest it.

    Like I said, this is the thought I have on it. I'm sure there is science behind it somewhere that will prove/disprove what I've said. Hope a Vet can help further.

    I really believe it depends on that days training. I also don't have any scientific sources to back this info up but that's what I think. If you're hitting weights harder than the average Joe in the gym then you should be able to do fine with more protein.

    Ive always grown better and felt more in tune with growth when Ive had 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight split over 6-8 meals and I know my old school values are coming out here but I do consume alittle bit more after training . What ever your daily requirements are feed your body over a larger amount of meals or thats what works best for me......

    As far as I'm aware your body will basically absorb as much as it needs. This can be dependent on your height, weight, age, body composition, activity level, etc. Considering that protein is involved in more bodily processes than any other macronutrient it would only make sense that with higher protein needs comes increased absorption of protein. So my guess would be that the harder you train, the more damage you'll do to your muscles (on a cellular level), which means more cells will need to be repaired, protein requirements will increase, and thus so should absorption. *Don't have any official sources to credit for this info, just best guess based on the knowledge I do have*
