    milk thistle vs ALA for liver support

    Is there any comparison? Which would be best for someone who just wants to take it while on trt for preventative reasons? Thanks guys, just about done with my ala and trying to make a choice.

    The best liver support is NAC. Because it's inexpensive, readily available and just as effective as all the other drugs including the most expensive ones.

    Hardly overkill. I use it year round. Overkill would be anything at mega-doses beyond necessity.

    500 to 600 mg daily is what I run every day. That's a good dose. This is on TRT, but if I cycle, I run 1200 to 1800 daily.

    ALA is a great anti oxidant but i prefer NAC (as has been stated) and udca for liver support...

    Couldn't agree with you more Jimmy! BTW, hope all is well!

    FYI, ALA is made up of both the R and S isomers. Studies have shown that the R isomer by itself has improved benefits as the R and S compete for absorption. I've personally supplemented with R-ALA and it helped my insulin sensitivity quite a bit. My fasted bg levels went from around 95 down to 85 over a 2-3 month period...so in that regards R-ALA works great.
