L-Arginine before my armwrestling competitions?
One of my main issues during a competition is my arm getting "blown up" after a tough match (Or consecutive matches.) - Basically arm gets pumped full of blood, which makes it VERY difficult to have any continued endurance.
I've been reading up on ways to counter this. One thing I've stumbled upon is a supplement called L-Arginine. It seems as though this may help with the blood circulation and endurance. I just wanted the message board's take on this....If you feel this may help during my competitions? If so, what sort of dosage and how long before i compete should i take it?
If you feel there is a better option for me besides L-Arginine, please let me know! THANKS EVERYONE

L-Arginine will dilate your blood vessels and allow more flow, I think it would make your problem worse.

I agree with dnyce that arginine may compound the problem. Not sure what to do to get "less" pump. A low carb / low sodium diet may achieve this, but would also likely hinder your performance.
Creatine and beta alanine would help with endurance.

I guess L-Arginine is cheap enough to where I can try it at practice. I can see your point though! I just thought it may increase blood flow so that is would "push" the blood through my arms more, instead of just filling my arms up with blood and it staying there.
The low card/low sodium probably wouldn't be a good idea for me. I usually have to make my weight class, so to pack the weight back on, i'm usually heavily loading with carbs and sodium.

Here is one Armwrestler's post on a Facebook Group Page. Putting it in those term, would it make sense? (see below)
"Take a good quality time released L-Arginine supplement 15-30mins before you start, to flush the lactic acid buildup while pulling. You will still get a pump, but it wont be the same pump that turns your arms to limp noodles"

Actually i noticed a huge difference during practice. Almost the same pump as normal, but not even close to the same fatigueness!! It definitely worked.

L-Arginine dilates all veins not just the arm's, so it makes no difference with pumps whether he takes it or not.
