is hydrolyzed whey isolate worth the extra $$$?
i understand that post workout supplement is a very critical part of overall program. in particular, i understand a post workout shake with sugars, starches, glutamine, creative, and a fast acting protein is the whey (punny!) to go. my question is whether or not the faster acting, more expensive (by 50%?) hydrolyzed whey isolate is worth it (as compared to just whey isolate or even a whey blend)?
thoughts?

That's sounds just like supplement company spin. Telling you that you will 'maximise your gains' if you take what they say and what their research says is correct.
Don't sweat the small stuff. If you really want to do a shake then WPC is fine. Make sure your pre workout nutrition is optimum for you and that the rest of your meals hit your macro's.NO SOURCES GIVEN

Not worth the money.
If you are concerned about fast amino acid replenishment just take a good BCAA preworkout or during your workout.
I do the creatine mono post workout with yogurt to spike insulin and aid in cell transport.
The BCAAs should hold you over until you are ready for protein shake. I usually do protein shake or high protein meal 1-1.5 hours after workout.

I bought peptopro hydrolyzed casein. Supposed to be better tasting. Mainly was going to use intra training and maybe sometimes pre. Tasted like vomit. No joke, I can usually stomach most things, but I tried it once, forced it down, and was ridiculously hard to do, needless to say, I have a good 100 something dollars worth of the stuff wasting away. And I could care less how effective it is if it is that bad I won't touch it.

I'm def not arguing with you, but why do you prefer whey isolate over whey concentrate (blend)? I've always used ON's Gold standard whey, but with all the new rage in whey isolate I thought about switching but there's def a price increase. Wondering if it would be worth it? I love me some ON rocky road whey!

You don't need any of that. PWO nutrition has been hyped up in order to gimmick more ppl into buying supplements. If you eat before training PWO nutrition isn't so important. The PWO window is around 24hrs anyway giving you ample time to go home, shower, enjoy a long sexing session with the wife or gf, defrost some chicken, cook it then eat it lol.
Some facts about hydrolyzed protein:
Hydrolized whey isolate and concentrate as well as casein isolate and concentrate digest about 6min faster than the non-hydrolyzed counterparts. Now let me ask you a question, in your opinion, is it worth it to spend 50% more money on a faster acting protein if that protein is only faster by 6min?
Couldn't have said it simpler or better than this.
At one point one had less lactose content so it was tolerated better but now companies offer lactose free versions of both. No need to spend your extra money if you're happy with what you're using. According to Lyle McDonald "there's no functional difference between he two".

I would say it especially depends on your diet.
I follow IIFYM-I prefer to eat food-just since its usually tastier and more satisfying, but if I can't eat I'll usually do a normal whey. However, Recently I found a great deal on Isofusion, so I've been using that. I've found that I can eat more "junk" food since I have less carbs taken up by the whey-not a huge difference, maybe 200 cals if I really load up on it.
But other than that, Is there anything better about the protein-not really. Is it worth paying exorbitant amounts, not really.

Hydrolized why makes me wanna vomit. If you're going pro and a supplement company sponsors you by all means use hyrdrolized whey. Until then, its that that big of a deal. Just another supplement myth, Just like the ones who will tell you if you don't drink 5g's of BCAA durring your workout and have 50g of protein and 50g of carbs within 30 seconds of finishing your last set you'll go catabolic and lose your gains. Same thing about the 6 to 8 meals a day. Bill Phillips, the head of EAS sold us on that idea to sell myplex in the 90's.
Chances are if you read something in "Muscle and fiction" i mean "muscle and fitness" or Flex magazine, about supps then theres probably only about 25% truth to it. The publishing companies of those magazines are owned by the same corporations who own supp companies.
