Creatine & Acne
I know there is not evidence of this being true, as creatine is not hormonal supplement, however every time I decide to start taking it again I breakout.
I had a busy week with work, and I forgot to take creatine 3 days in a row. I noticed during that 3rd day that my face wasn't as tender to touch, wasn't as red, and I didn't really have any big pimples. My face was looking pretty clear! I couldn't figure out what was the cause of it, but then I noticed I had forgotten to take my 5g of monohydrate. It's now been almost a week of no creatine and I have had 0 pimples. Does anybody else feel like creatine causes breakouts?Last edited by Nij; 09-28-2014 at 11:55 AM.

Well, it could be from not drinking enough water.
I usually go from drinking 1gal/day to 2gal/day when using creatine.
Seems excessive, but I feel it's needed.

I was drinking 1 gallon a day prior to the creatine. Once I started taking it I upped it to 1.5 gallons.

I doubt it is the creatine directly, but not ruling it out entirely.
instead, I'm thinking there could be a trace amount of something else from processing your body is reacting to.
Has it happened other times when taking creatine, or just this time?

As someone who has acne running in the family and currently using creatine I can confidently say that the creatine is not giving me any acne, if anything it seems to clear my skin up!

Every time. I've come off creatine to test the theory 3 or 4x now. It doesn't make sense, but I honestly believe it's the cause.

Yes it could be the creatine causing it. You could try an alternate form of creatine perhaps, not use it, or tolerate the acne.

Since dropping the 'tine, I've lost 4 pounds. Still eating the same amount of calories.

I'm just going to throw this out there, but have you considered that the extra water you are drinking while on creatine is allowing you to sweat more, which is causing the acne?

What brand/form of creatine are you taking?
There is the possibility you are allergic to the main ingredient, or if in pill form, maybe one of the fillers.
