Unrelated to bodybuilding... need advice on supps/vitamins for attention deficit

Anyone know of a good alternative for the typical ADD/ADHD medication? My girl hasnt been clinically diagnosed yet but were pretty sure shes got ADD/ADHD, just based on our observations. Before they diagnose her and prescribe her more drugs than the ones shes already on (for depression and anxiety. I read Austinites feel good stack and were trying that ASAP), Im hoping someone might have some useful knowledge on this subject. Thanks!

    Hey JClutch...

I've had ADHD my whole life(diagnosed at age 6-7) used to take Adderall, and I've completely stopped(due to side effects) my Doc was an idiot and over prescribed me 120mgs daily(2 cycles ago I had a Grand Mal seizure(the worst kind)... It was scary as sh*t, as I never experienced that b4!

I would say exhaust all other aspects/and get a second or third opinion... Drs love to throw this sh*t at anyone w/any signs of ADHD(now if for school or job. - Just be as safe as possible especially combining w/her other Meds)...

I hope this helps a lil! GL to you both!

I agree with you 100% brother. Im very standoffish with the whole thing but shes sold on getting meds, i assume because its hard to go about her day going back and forth from la la land. So did you just become mentally tough and overcame the ADHD? Do you still struggle with it a little? Or is there something natural that you feel helps??

You know I did just quit cold turkey(but not advising this - as all I did was sleep for a month) it's best to ween off slowly...

There are instances where I do feel like it would help(school if I go back, jobs, etc as sometimes it's a lil harder to focus and concentrate!

One thing I've noticed that I used to kind of use it to pick me up a tad but this shouldn't happen if one is ADHD(b/c it's supposed to have the opposite effect on patients w/ADD/ADHD - calms them though it's a strong stimulant)!

Once I dialed my diet in it really helped w/energy and even more focus but still not as focused(but Id rather feel this way than previously)... As far as a natural way I'm not sure... But I'd imagine there are natural stimulants that could help(as thsts all Adderall is - Methamphetamine salt) so I'd try some other remedies first... Like you've mentioned... Just from my experience... Some it does wonders for(like my ex but she also stopped and she was doing her dissertation for her PhD in Endocrinology) so it can be done w/out IMO...

It may be add/adhd but from my experience don't take the doctor's "diagnosis" as fact on the matter. I was diagnosed in highschool from their test and refused the stuff and turned it around without anything. It is one of the only conditions which cannot be chemically proven and relies on very vague symptom diagnosis. In university I knew a large number of people who faked it to get a prescription from the university doctor who just stated symptoms off an easy google search.

To put it into perspective, ~90% of all depression prescriptions (I know it's different but shows the culture) are taken in north America. Let that sink it haha.

The makeup's are amphetamine's which are habit forming and you need to ask yourself if the benefits are worth the costs. They do not "cure" anything but rather hide the symptoms

I mean inability to focus can be caused by a multitude of reasons and it is just too easy to say that a doctor told you so. Their opinion isn't fact and have made ridiculous claims the past like smoking making your teeth healthier (yes it is true).

Personally, I wouldn't touch the stuff. There is a reason there is such a large 3rd market for selling the stuff.

I have it and everything i've ever taken had bad side effects that either interrupted my social life, bodybuilding lifestyle or both. Whether it was appetite suppression, social paranoia, headaches, or heartburn.

Best advice, tell her to control herself better, pay attention to her problems and try to fix them, find working methods that may not be traditional but work for her, and realize that she is much better off that way.

Try nootropics, i'd definitely stay away from medications if they're not necessary.

Yep, thanks for your feedback guys. I think we all agree that prescription drugs are not the solution. If it was me, I would also opt to pass on the drugs and make the decision to be headstrong and try my best. I dont know if my girl is just tired of being so distracted or what not, i cant say, im not the one with the "symptoms"... but shes sold on the idea of needing something.

Khazima, i googled nootropics. Are you talking about Neuroflexyn? Do you personally have any experience with that?
