Daily usage of 5g shows no negative affect. Can't dig up the studies to show you this, but you'll be fine if you take it sensibly and not take 20g for like 2 weeks loading or some bs like that.

Also, creatinine levels naturally increase from lifting weights/working out so if you are worried about that take that into account to.

im not sure I but when I started I might have used 2 spoon fulls stupid I know but I didn't use it regularly and when I went down I was at football camp at app state and I drink some drink that had a lot of creatine it and It all went down hill from there. whats crazy is I didn't even take it a couple of months before I got there and when I got to the hospital they said I had so much creatine in my kidneys they could fail at any moment I stayed 4 days but they wanted me to stay a lot longer. iv gotten heat for saying this in the past ppl say oh well you must of had problems before hand but as far as I knew I was pretty healthy and you can ask any doctor and they will tell you creatine isnt healthy

Been using it for a year right now and kidneys are fine as well as creatinine levels. No more than 5g a day.

Only 'adverse' effects I get are cramps if I dont drink enough water

I agree, if you keep it to the 5 gram per day range you should have zero problems considering that your a healthy adult.

Creatine is one of, if not the single most researched supplements in the world. For those with healthy kidneys it has not been shown to have any negative effects. One thing to keep in mind when listening to other people is correlation does NOT equal causation. My friend took testosterone one time and he got chlamydia. What the F does one have to do with the other? I don't know either but ask a doctor and they will tell you that testosterone is bad for you.

The net result of the endless amount of studies on creatine was that even with one kidney, creatine had no negative effect on the kidneys. This is a topic that has been replicated numerous times in different populations by different researchers, and yet not a single peer-reviewed study or case report has surfaced where creatine is the causative factor behind kidney damage.

In one study, an individual with one kidney that was slightly damaged was loaded with 20g of Creatine a day and no problems were found. Effect of short-term high-dose creatine supplementation on measured GFR in a young man with a single kidney. - PubMed - NCBI

There is some confusion regarding the kidneys with the metabolite (waste product) of creatine, called 'creatinine', which is also a diagnostic criteria for kidney problems. This is a case of a supplement giving a 'false positive' and is in no way harmful.

Creatine is normally metabolized into creatinine (note the difference in spelling), which is eliminated by the kidneys under normal conditions. When the kidneys fail and they cannot clear the blood as effectively many metabolites get 'backlogged' in the blood so to speak, and creatinine is easy to measure and as such it is a biomarker of kidney damage; this means that if creatinine is elevated, the doctor may suspect some kidney damage. Low dose creatine may not cause alterations in this biomarker in otherwise normal adults but high doses of supplemental creatine may cause a false positive (an increase in creatinine, due to creatine turning into creatinine, that does not signify kidney damage) and is seen as a diagnostic error.

I figure I would get a response like that it don't matter to me what anyone says, I have healthy kidneys and creatine put me in the hospital period. it may not be a common occurrence but its not un common either I have met others who have had problems with it as well

Not sure for what its worth but I know a guy who ruined his kidney with 350g of protein per day for 3 years straight, no other supplement used. So if anything excess protein can be bad for you if that's something you do.

"Excess" is the key word here, too much of anything may give you problems, get the info you need decide for yourself and just don't be stupid. Creatine is great iv used it on and off for years.
