You shouldn't put too much faith in expiration dates. They're usually placed on products in order to get you to buy more even if you haven't finished whats on hand.
NAC will oxidize when exposed to atmospheric conditions, but only after three years.
I don't believe there's a dosing limit with NAC.
When adults overdose on acetaminophen the protocol is to administer large amounts.
An initial dose of 140 mg/kg. Then 70 mg/kg every four hours for the next 72 hours.

My question is what do you guys mix the NAC powder with to hide the super sour taste?

I take a good bit of NAC, between 1-4 grams on most days, this has been for the last couple years (usage is dr. approved). I take a lot of powders that could be considered pretty foul tasting, but I have to cap the NAC. I can't stand to mix bad tasting stuff to take it, it's much easier for me to take a sip of something and then toss the powder on top of it.

I use regular gelatin caps. I've seen some people have digestion issues with them, but they hold up better than veggie caps. If I am taking a handful of them I'll chew some bromelain beforehand or take an HCl cap along with to help disseminate the capsules better.
I have bulk NAC and the package reccomends 2.4 grams as a max daily dose.
if anyone is having trouble with bulk supps that taste bad, check out true nutrition. They sell 100 grams of flavoring for like 5.99. They have lots of different flavors, and it is sweetened with stevia. They also sell lots of great bulk supplements. They will even custom blend your own protein, and oatmeals. Prices are great for what you get.
the taste thing. I am not sure about the NAC itself, since I have not used it. But I have heard that people are putting their supplements (bad tasting supplements) in some drinks, like for example some juices. should try mixing your supplement in juices. guess might work
I take 1200mg of NAC/day and 1200mg of vitamin C/day to combat kidney stones. Over three years now, no issues.

Have you guys/girls had any labs done before and after starting using NAC? What brands are you using? I'm also curious on why you are using so much if you dont mind me asking or telling.
I have a friend who has been fighting Hemoglobin H Disease (Anemia) for a few years and due to medications, blood transfusions, High iron in the blood her liver levels have been off the chart for a long time. Back in December they were, SGPT (ALT) 135.9 (0.0 - 38 range) and it had been high like for the last few years.
I got her started on N-Acetyl Cysteine NAC 600mg a day (puritans pride)
Her levels as of April 3rd are SGPT (ALT) 56.43 (9-52 range)
I'm not sure why they didnt have the SGOT results on the 2nd test but she will get them checked next time. I can only assume it also went down significantly.

I've get regular labs, but wouldn't be able to tell if the NAC has any direct effect because I take a lot of meds and supplements. I take NAC to help provide substrate for manufacturing glutathione, immune support, maintaining liver enzymes, and keeping the blood clear. NAC can be helpful for many things in the body.
lovbyts that is really awesome to hear about your friend and how much her liver enzymes decreased after adding NAC.
I take 1200mg nac and 500mg tudca when running orals and when I'm just cruising or just running oils ill keep tudca at 250mg and nac at 600. So I double up when running orals.. Been on tudca for the last 3.5 years non-stop and nac has been about a year. I know for a fact these work great because ive gotten bloodwork on them and liver values are always in range.
Before I started tudca I got bloods and enzymes were both around 140ish. So they were both well out of range and taking 500mg tudca for 6 weeks while on 250 test and 300 eq 50mg proviron daily my liver values went right back down into mid range. They both dropped over 100 pts. This was 3.5 years ago and I been on tudca since...
